Designation:B108/B108M−15
Standard Specification for
Aluminum-Alloy Permanent Mold Castings1
This standard is issued under thefixed designation B108/B108M;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year of original adoption or,in the ca of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parenthes indicates the year of last reapproval.
A superscript epsilon(´)indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.
This standard has been approved for u by agencies of the U.S.Department of Defen.
1.Scope*
1.1This specification2covers aluminum-alloy permanent mold castings designated as shown in Table1.
1.2This specification is for aluminum-alloy permanent mold castings ud in general purpo applications. It may not address the mechanical properties, integrity testing, and veri-fication required for highly loaded or safety critical applica-tions.
1.3Alloy and temper designations are in accordance with ANSI H35.1/H35.1(M).The equivalent unified numbering system alloy designations are in accordance with Practice E527.
1.4Unless the order specifies the“M”specification designation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-pound units.
1.5For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminum and aluminum alloys and their properties in this specification, e Annex A1and Annex A
2.
1.6Units—The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded parately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be ud independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.
1.7This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its u.It is the responsibility of the ur of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to u.
