Last weekend, Tom and I paid a visit to the Summer Palace, the largest and best-prerved royal garden, where we immerd ourlves in the stunning(令人震惊的)view and an inspiring interaction (互动)with a kind and enthusiastic elder.
Early in the morning, we arrived at the gate and were among the first to dash into the Summer Palace, longing to be embraced by traditional Chine garden design and the architecture of unprecedented intricacy (前所未有的复杂性)and delicacy. Enjoying the pavilions, terraces(观众), red walls and black tiles along the corridors, we wandered further into the garden, amazed by the rarity(珍品)of the world.
As we stepped into an open hall, applau drew our attention to an elderly man.
With a writing brush and bucket of water on the granite ground, he was performing Chine calligraphy. After watching the old man finish the Chine character “longevity”, we couldn’t help but admire his skills as well as other tourists.
It struck Tom as novel and interesting and he felt an urge to have a try. With patience, the old man provided Tom with uful tips on writing Chine calligraphy while introducing the history to the people prent. Tom spared no effort to copy the way the old man moved the brush. Of cour, it was no easy task for him. However, after veral attempts, it improved gradually and Tom finally succeeded in writing the characters “China”, for which the old man gave his thumbs up. With the character “China” and the brush held in his hand, we took a photo together to keep this memorable moment forever fresh in our heart.
From grandio(宏伟的)palaces to the fleeting calligraphy, things all carry a breath of culture. It’s our holy(神圣的) duty to prerve, to appreciate and to carry on the cultural heritage handed down to us through ages. (299)
