Animals can be very funny.

The word millipede means a thousand legs. There are more than 10, 000 species of millipedes in the world. But the tiny animals never have 1, 000 legs. They have between 15 and 200 pairs of legs. The largest is 30 centimeters long.
When American opossums are in danger, they go all soft and play dead. Their predators, such as foxes or dogs, prefer living prey and leave them along. When the danger has gone, the opossum gets up and runs away.
Scientists have found that snails can be very uful in finding pollution. Their lungs absorb metals, such as Zinc or lead, in the soil. The toxic substances don’t kill them but cau them to grow more slowly.
