1 Scope
This DBL specifies, in particular, the corrosion protection requirements for fasteners with metric (internal and external) thread. Other surface protection types than tho specified in this DBL will only be permit-ted in exceptional cas for well-founded reasons.
Table 1 Cr(VI)-free product versions, overview
With regard to its requirements, product version .89 corresponds to product version .43 with the differ-ence of the different coloring, but in particular that only certain coating/finish treatment materials shall be ud on bolts and screws according to product version DBL 9440.89, which are approved in Annex A to this DBL.
This Supply Specification does not apply to parts of property class 120 or 12.9 /12!
组织部工作计划
DBL 9599 applies to such parts.
This Supply Specification does not apply to fasteners with micro-encapsulated adhesive!
DBL 9460 applies to such parts.
Otherwi, this Supply Specification applies to all metric bolts, screws and nuts with property class ≤10.9 / 10 as well as their washers, and to pipe connectors, spring clips and similar parts unless otherwi specified in product standards.
Surfaces for parts which are attached to body shells by means of welding, screw-connection or bonding and which together with the body run through the pretreatment and painting process, are not covered by this DBL.
Application-related note:
The new product versions have not been verified for all application conditions with regard to their anticor-rosion capability in a reliable process and their technical fastening properties.
This applies, in particular, to the corrosion behavior of PVs .43 / .89 and the fastening behavior of PVs .47 and .49.
Before PVs .47 and .49 are applied, examinations with regard to the fastening technology, in particular, and approvals by the responsible fastener reprentatives are required.

3 Terms and definitions
PV:Product version according to this DBL, e.g. DBL 9440.40
Top coats:
A top coat as defined by this DBL is an organic or inorganic protective layer for zinc flake, zinc
or zinc alloy coatings with layer thickness >2µm. The top coat may also contain zinc and/or
aluminum and include pigments for coloration (silver or black). Top coats may contain suitable
additives for the adjustment of defined coefficients of friction.宛如吟
Passivation:
Passivation is the creation of conversion coatings on newly deposited zinc or zinc alloy layers
by treatment with suitable Cr(VI)-free solutions.
Separate touch-resistant lubricant:
A lubricant which is applied in addition has the function of adjusting the total coefficient of fric-
tion so that it lies within the range specified in Section 6.2, and - in line with MBN VDA 235-
101: 1997-07 - it shall not impair the component finish visually or chemically, and it shall be
dry to touch, adhere well and shall not lead to any malfunctions in conveying and processing
systems. For further requirements with regard to applied lubricants, refer to MBN VDA 235-
101: 1997-07, Section 2.2.
Sealing:
Sealing as defined by this DBL is the creation of an organic or inorganic protective coating with
a layer thickness of approx. 0,5-2µm on zinc flake, zinc or zinc alloy coatings. The aling on
zinc or zinc alloy surfaces is normally applied on passivated surfaces, whereby the aling
方驾penetrates into the passivation layer forming a composite coating. Depending on the aling
agent, the aling shall be executed wet on wet or following intermediate drying. The aling
agent may be provided with pigments for coloration (black). Top coats or subquent paint ap-
plications with greater layer thickness shall not be ud as alings.
Sealings may incorporate suitable additives for the adjustment of the required defined coeffi-
cients of friction. The combination of alings with integrated lubricants and subquent lubri-
cation should be avoided, if possible.
Zinc flake coating:
Esntially inorganic, thin coating with cathodic corrosion protection capability, characterized
by the fact that zinc and, to a lesr extent, also aluminum flakes, are applied to the compo-
nent from a dispersion. The coating constituents will evaporate and polymerize during the sub-潜入读音
quent baking process. In order to achieve optimum corrosion protection, the coating shall
normally be applied and baked at least twice.
requirements
4 General
For safety requirements, homologation (in particular, exhaust emissions) and quality, the existing statuto-ry requirements and laws shall be complied with. In addition, the relevant requirements of the Daimler Group apply.
All materials, procedures, process, components, and systems shall conform to the current regulatory (governmental) requirements regarding regulated substances and recyclability. DBL 8585 shall be ob-rved.
Due to the detection problems associated with chromium (VI) in Cr(VI)-free zinc flake coatings, the appli-cation of chrome compounds for such coatings is not permitted.
