The Annual Coal Report(ACR) provides information about U.S. coal production, number of mines, productive capacity, recoverable rerves, employment, productivity, consumption, stocks, and prices to a wide audience, including Congress, Federal and State agencies, the coal industry, and the general public. This report is published by EIA to fulfill data collection and dismination responsibilities as specified in the Federal Energy Administration Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-275), as amended.

This report prents annual data on U.S. coal production, number of mines, productive capacity, recoverable rerves, employment, productivity, consumption, stocks, and prices. Coal production, number of mines, employment, and productivity are bad on the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration’s survey form 7000-2, “Quarterly Mine Employment and Coal Production Report.” Productive capacity, recoverable rerves, and prices are bad on EIA’s annual survey form EIA-7A, “Coal Production and Preparation Report.” Consumption and stocks are bad on various other EIA survey forms.
This report is the 38th annual report on the coal industry published by EIA and continues the ries formerly included in the Minerals Yearbook published by the U.S. Bureau of Mines. All data for 2013 and prior years are final, with the exception of 2013 electric power ctor data, which are preliminary.
The Office of Oil, Gas, and Coal Supply Statistics acknowledges the cooperation of the respondents in supplying the information published in the Annual Coal Report, and appreciates the valuable assistance of State coal mining agencies and the U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration.
