1.The students will be able to understand 12 new words and expressions: nurry, rhyme, mockingbird, billy-goat, tea, endless, droop, dread, await, transform, revolve, utter;
2.The students will be able to master the characteristics of the five simple forms of English poems;
3.The students will be able to distinguish the five forms of poems;
4.The students will be able to create Cinquain poems.

Step I  Lead-in (5m)

1.Lead in the topic with greetings,free talks and a song;
2.Talk about some Chine nurry rhymes and ask them to guess poems by showing pictures to awake their background knowledge about poems as well as to arou their interest in talking about poems in English.
Step II Fast reading (1+1m)
1.Help the students to master the fast reading skills;
2.Ask the students to scan the passage with some questions.
Step III  Appreciating poems and finding out their characteristics (8+5m)
The teacher will guide the students to find out the characteristics of nurry rhymes. They will be asked to find out the characteristics of the rest forms on their own by cooperative learning.
Step IV  Cooperative Learning (5+3m)
1.Falling into groups;
2.The students with the same task will sit together to appreciate the poem and find out the characteristics;
3.The students will go back to their original ats and share the characteristics they值夜拟人和比喻的区别ve found with their group members;(1 minute for each)
4.The teacher will guide the students to list all the characteristics. During this process, the students will appreciate the poems and try to create the cinquain poem with the help of the teacher.
Step V.  Competition (15m)
In order to evaluate how well they learn about this passage, some questions are prepared.
Step VI.  Homework(2m)
Ask the students to choo their favorite form of poems and try to create one poem with the knowledge theyve learned from the passage. Then share it with their classmates and their family.
