He ud to be an bombardier of U.S Air Force. He ud to devote himlf in the battlefield of the Second World War, then he choo to be a writer and a teacher for a long time. This novel actually can be en as a part of his real life’s reflection. The people in the novel are very scattering and the stories of each people are very different. Especially the heroine of the novel, Yossian, is very disgusted with the war. In other words, we can e each person and their story singly. But the heroine, Yossian, is always running through the whole novel. So the analysis of main characters is very necessary if we want to get better understanding of this book. This paper mainly analyze the main characters in the n
ovel and the social factors which caud this kind of hustle among the militants, and the reasons why they act so different in front of war. The analysis of characteristics of the people in the novel would help readers understand the theme of the whole novel better.
