1. It is a figure of speech by which a word, or a particular form or inflection of a word, refers to two or more words in the same ntence, with properly applying to or agreeing with only one of them in grammar or syntax.
E.g.
He addresd you and me, and desired us to follow him.
It is often found in colloquial speech or writing.
2. It is a figure of speech by which a word may refer to two or more words in the same ntence, applying to one literally and to the other (s) figuratively.
1) v + Ns
He lost the game and his temper.
The nator picked up his hat and his courage.
She opens the door and her heart to the homeless child.
The general lost the town and his head.
2) adj + ns
He halted in the district where by night are found the lightest street, hearts, vows(发誓), and librettos（歌剧剧本，歌词）.

3) prep.+ ns
She went home in a flood of tears and a dan – chair.

This cond aspect of syllepsis is similar to zeugma.

It is a figure of speech by which a single word is made to modify or to govern two or more words in the same ntence, either properly applying in n to only one of them, or applying to them in different ns.
Or: a figure of speech in which a single word, usually a verb or adjective, is syntactically related to two or more words, with only one of which it ems logically connected.
E.g.
At noon Mrs. Turpin got out of bed and humor, put on kimono, airs, and the water to boil for coffee.
The murderer killed the boy and the luggage.

chiasmus(交错配列)
The word “chiasmus” comes from Greek word “chiasmos”, meaning “cross-wide”.
It is a construction involving the repetition of words or syntactic elements in rever order.（a b // b a ）
Chiasmus rves diferent purpos in different contexts. On many occasions it rves the purpo of being rious or solemn, witty or humorous. It often achieves aphoristic(格言的，警句的) effect.

The word “anadiplosis” is from Greek word “anadiplosis‘，meaning “to double back”.
It is a repetition of the last part of a unit or ntence at the beginning of the next unit or ntence, who pattern is /…a, a…/.
Anadiplosis can be generated in a ries of ntences and ideas either for the sake of aesthetic feeling or to give a n of logical progression of ideas.
