摘要：1476568 Removal of nitrogenous material from waste waters STERLING DRUG Inc 29 Aug 1975 [18 Sept 1974] 35790/75 Heading C1C A process of nitrogen removal from waste water compris: (a) mixing waste water containing reduced nitrogeneous compounds with active nitrifying organisms and an oxygencontaining gas for a sufficient length of time to convert substantially all of the nitrogeneous material to the nitrate form; (b) parating said nitrifying organisms and the accumulated biomass from the nitrified waste water stream; recycling the parated nitrifying organisms and accumulated biomass to the nitrification contacting step, and periodically or continuously removing a portion of the accumulated biomass from the nitrifying step; (c) contacting said nitrified waste water stream with heterotrophic denitrifying bacteria in the prence of a source of organic carbon for a length of time sufficient to reduce the nitrate nitrogen to elemental nitrogen; and (d) parating said denitrifying organisms and the accumulated biomass from the denitrified waste water stream, recycling the parated denitrifying organisms and accumulated biomass to the denitrification step, and periodically or continuously removing a portion of the accumulated biomass from the
denitrifying step; the improvement being heating the biomass removed from the nitrifying and denitrif
ying steps in the prence of an oxygencontaining gas at a temperature of 175‹ to 315‹ C. at an oxygen partial pressure of 5 to 250 p.s.i. to partially oxidize the biomass and convert substantially all of the organic nitrogen to ammonia nitrogen, parating the solid pha from the liquid pha of the oxidized mixture, removing ammonia from the liquid pha and directing said liquid pha to the denitrifying contact step to provide a source or organic carbon in the denitrifying step (c). The process is suitable for the treatment of wage and other waste waters containing nitrogeneous compounds. The pH of the oxidation of the biomass should be at least 9À5; alkaline material such as sodium hydroxide or lime may be added.
