Alpha Value
Alpha
An internal Pilkington value describing the complexity of a windscreen’s centreline profile (crosscurve). Typically, values < 6 are feasible, 6 to 7 are difficult and >7 are beyond current capability. Usually measured at the top and bottom of the glass centreline.

Generally this is a measure of the condary curvature in a shaped sidelight and is measured from left to right at the top, centre and bottom edges of the part. See diagram letters S.T.U.
