Abstract
Diet is the ba of living, with no exception in China or the United States or other countries. Food culture is an important part of the national culture. With the entrance of the 21st century, cross-cultural communication has become more and more frequent, among which food culture has been the most basic content. However, becau of the differences in living environments, customs and value concepts China and the United States have formed their own different food cultures. As a result, there appear some misunderstandings sometimes between Chine and the U.S.A in their communication. This paper explores the difference
s between Chine and the United States food culture, and will analyze the differences of food cultures between China and the America from diet concept, diet object and, diet manner, tableware and etiquette so as to facilitate the efficient communication between Chine and American.

An Analysis of the Differences between Chine and American Food Culture
I. Introduction
As we know, with the entrance of the 21st century, cross-cultural communication has been a more and more popular activity even among common people. However, becau of the differences of areas and environments and customs, different nations have formed their specific cultures. Among the four aspects of clothing, eating, housing and behaving, Chine people have got clor and clor to 张伯礼事迹American in other three aspects except in eating. It is only in the aspect of eating that Chine people have the biggest difference with American. Food culture is an important component of the national cultures. It also plays an esntial role in non-verbal cultures in cross-cultural communication. China has a long and rich history on its food culture. In China almost everything is cloly related to eating. For example, when Chine people meet, they will ask ‘Have you eaten yet’ to replace American’s ‘Hello or How are you’. It is very interesting prologue in the world.
Meanwhile, American food culture is not as developed as that of China and Western countries are not that particular about cooking as China. Knowing the differences of food cultures between China and American is good for English learners to have more complete understanding of both eastern and western cultures and it also increas the chance of success in cross-cultural communication, and helps people avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. The most important thing is that we can get more chance with our international trade and so on.
II. Chine and American Food Culture
2.1Characteristics of Chine food culture

(Food and Culture, 2004) In this culture, it makes China contain more expansive and profound food culture. dscape is dominated by two rivers (The Yellow River in the north and the Chang Jiang River in the south). The north plain through which the Yellow River flows agriculturally very fertile; its main food is wheat, sorghum and so on. However, in the south the Chang Jiang River flow take rice as main food. The difference is not only at the main food, it is also with cuisines. There are Shandong cuisine, Jiangsu cuisine, Guangdong cuisine and Sichuan cuisine. The four major cuisines have different features, but in common is with making complex fastidious, the product methods are very complex, and have a great diversity of taste and dishes, this is amazing. Becau of our vast land, there are differences in climate, products and custom in every place. For a long time, on food was formed many flavor. Chine people generally believe that it is sour in east, hot in west, sweet in south and salty in north. On the other hand, all the year round, according to ason for eat is a feature in China’s cooking. Since ancient times, our country has been according to ason changes to taste, and dishes. Winter taste strong, summer flavor cleaner; in the winter more braid stews, summer more cold. It is unbelievable.
