1. Teaching Contents In this unit, students will learn Part I: Brief Introduction & Fast Reading (A) Part II: Reading Comprehension Reading A: The lonely soldier and the moral scars of war 赞美老师作文Part III: Exercis Part IV: Grammar&Language in U Part V: Culture tips 2. Teaching Process In the First and Second Class Part1: Lead-in Teacher give some picture about some famous people who are involved in a certain war and introduce them to students. Then, teacher give a table including 5 wars and help students to complete it. Part2: Words Ask students complete task 2 on page 22 and 23 before class and teacher will ask students to give answers in class. In the Third and Fourth Class Part1: Pre-reading (1)Reading tips Plot refers to a ries of events that happen in a story, which sometimes might not be arranged in the right time order. So you may draw a timeline and place the crucial moments chronologically on it while reading. It may help you understand the story. (2)Questions Do you know the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? What were the conquences of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Part 2: Fast Reading Before the third and fourth class, students should preview the reading A. In class, students will have 10 ms to read it again and complete task A on page 27. Part 3: Careful Reading First, listen to the tape para by para. Second, a certain student read one para. Third, a certain student translate some ntences which have different expression in Chine. Forth, teacher explain the difficult and complex ntences. After explaining, students should review the text and complete task B and task C on page 27. Part 4: Language points (1) conscience n. to feel guilty about something e.g. If anything happens to Emily, I’ll always have it on my conscience. (2) dilemma n. a situation in which you have to make a difficult choice between two, or sometimes more than two, actions e.g. Many single parents struggle with the dilemma of dividing time between work and children. We’re in a dilemma about whether to move or not. (3) epidemic n. a large number of cas of a dia that happen at the same time e.g. Over 500 people died during last year’s flu epidemic. (4)ethical adj. relating to principles of what is right and wrong e.g. Emmanuel Hospital is devoted to quality care and high ethical standards. (5) radio v. to nd a message using a radio e.g. I urgently radioed the information back to headquarters. (6) theatre n. a large area where a war is being fought e.g. the Pacific theater during the Second World War 陈方圆(7) traumatic adj. a traumatic experience is so shocking and uptting that it affects you for a long time e.g. My parents’ divorce was very traumatic for me. Part 5: Sentence structure (1) After leaving theatres of war, soldiers had been affected to different degrees in tho three areas, each of which influences their ability to operate once home. (Para. 3) 离开战场之后,战士们在这三个领域,都受到了不同程度的影响。一旦归家,每一 处都影响到他们正常的行动能力。 本句是一个复合句,其中包含 which 引导的非限定性定语从句,其先行词是 areas。 要特别注意关系代词 which 或 as 引导的非限定性定语从句的区别: (1)当非限定性定语从句位于句首时,只用 as 不用 which。 e.g. As was natural, he married her. (2)当非限定性定语从句位于主句之后时,只表示主句所述内容,不带有“如...... 那样”的意思时,往往用 which,而不用 as。 e.g. They are invited to the state banquet, which (不能用as) was a great honour to them. (3)当非限定性定语从句的关系代词指的是先行词本身时,只能用 which,不能用 as。 e.g. The West Lake, which (不能用as) is one of the world famous scenic spots, is in Hangzhou. (2) The more time goes by since leaving the army, the more doubts occur about whether I ever did the right thing. (Para. 12) 退伍的时间愈久,闪现的疑问愈多:我的所作所为是否是正义之举。 本句中需要注意whether引导的宾语从句的用法。下列动词(词组)后常跟 whether 引导的宾语从句:advice,ask,discover,discuss,doubt,find out,imagine, inform,inquire,know,question,show(展示),tell,understand(明白),wonder(想 知道)等动词后面常接由 whether 引导的宾语从句。 e.g. Maurice asked me whether I needed any help. 莫里斯问我是否需要帮助。 Part 6: Exerci After the class, the students should complete exercis about vocabularies and phras from page 49 to page 50 before the next class. And in the third class, teacher will ask some students to tell answers to all class. In the Fifth and Sixth Class 自主招生条件Part 1: Grammer Teacher will explain this grammar again. Third, ask students to give answers of exerci on page 30 and 31 and teacher re-correct them. Part 2: Vocabulary Building First, watch a video about homographs, which come from a native English teacher. Second, students need to summarize information about homographs. Third, ask students to give answers of exerci on page 32 and 33 and teacher re宝宝大脑-correct them. In the Seventh and Eighth Class Part 1:Prentation Group 2: Catch-22 Students of Group 2 should prepare prentation under the title of Catch-22 before class and show it in this class. The time is 15 minutes. Part 2:Culture tips Teacher and students read the small article about dreams on ancient cultures on page 40 together and enjoy it. Part 3:Questions and Answers Students review this unit and ask question if they have, and the teacher answers the questions. In the next class, there will be words dictation. | ||||||
