一、阅读下列短文, 根据短文内容从所给的选项中选出最佳选项。
When is the best time to travel and come to Bali?
Best time to visit Bali depends mainly on the weather also low and high ason in terms of “school holiday schedules”, which does affect the overall price for accommodation and even the number of people you share the island with.
High ason is during July and August, during Easter Holidays, and Christmas / New Year (December till 1st week of January). It is the busiest time in Bali.
However, for many reasons, the best time to come to Bali is April, May, June and September, just before and just after high ason. It’s still dry ason, it’s slightly less humid, and room prices and villa rentals can be 30-50% cheaper than during high ason. Many shops offer sales and promotions, restaurants are less crowded in tho mid-ason months, and in general, Bali is a bit more relaxed. October is not too bad either, still much less rain than November (usually, check the rainfall chart).
Tho months are also the best time for water sport activities such as scuba diving, surfin
g, snorkelling, etc. Waters are clear, crowd not too bad etc. Major activities and attractions such as Bali Zoo, Bali Bird Park, Marine & Safari Park, Waterbom, White Water Rafting, Monkey Forest, etc. have less visitors which make the experience more enjoyable.
If you wish to explore the island and visit the main sighteing spots, temples and go for a day trip and tour, then tho months are also perfect. And not to forget, in general, the traffic and hustle bustle on the roads in the main tourist areas is more bearable. Some tourists love it when it’s busy, and could not imagine a holiday otherwi, but if you like it quieter, then Kuta and Legian, Seminyak during high ason might not be the best choice.

二、 阅读下列短文,根据短文内容从所给的选项中选出最佳选项。
Dinosaurs were the main animals on Earth for more than 150 million years. They were liz
ard-like reptiles. Some of them were the largest and scariest creatures that ever walked on land.
Fossils of dinosaurs were first discovered in the early 1800s. Abundant fossil bones, teeth, trackways, and other hard evidence have revealed that Earth was the domain of the dinosaurs for at least 230 million years. But so far, not a single trace of dinosaur remains has been found in rocks younger than about 66 million years.
For now, two leading ideas are battling it out within the scientific community. One of the most well-known theories for the death of the dinosaurs is the Alvarez hypothesis. In 1980, the two scientists propod the notion that a meteor the size of a mountain slammed into Earth 66 million years ago, filling the atmosphere with gas, dust, and debris that drastically altered the climate. Their key piece of evidence is an oddly high amount of the metal iridium (铱) in what’s known as the Cretaceous-Paleogene (白垩纪-古宙层), or K-Pg, layer—the geologic boundary zone that ems to cap any known rock layers contai
ning dinosaur fossils. Iridium is relatively rare in Earth's crust but is more abundant in stony meteorites, which led the Alvarezs to conclude that the mass extinction was caud by an extraterrestrial object.
However, other scientists maintain that the evidence for a massive meteor impact event is inconclusive, and that the more likely culprit may be Earth itlf. Ancient lava flows in India known as the Deccan Traps also em to match nicely in time with the end of the Cretaceous, with massive outpourings of lava spewing forth between 60 and 65 million years ago. Today, the resulting volcanic rock covers nearly 200,000 square miles in layers that are in places more than 6,000 feet thick. Such a vast eruptive event would have choked the skies with carbon dioxide and other gas that would have dramatically changed Earth’s climate.
Increasingly, scientists trying to unravel this prehistoric mystery are eing room for a combination of the ideas. It’s possible the dinosaurs were the unlucky recipients of a g
eologic one-two punch, with volcanism weakening ecosystems enough to make them vulnerable to an incoming meteor.
