1、 Kim was in danger of being fired from her job becau she was such a perfectionist (完美主义者) that she'd try to cover up her mistakes or argue with her boss. What should she do to overcome her problem?
The greatest and everlasting life changes often occur through team-bad activities, like Weight Watchers or Alcoholics Anonymous, where there are groups of people encouraging and supporting you. They invested their time and efforts in your success, and you feel you should be responsible for them. The same principles can be applied in getting rid of the lf-destructive habits. In other words, you should create your "dream team" for your personal growth.
Your team should consist of five people at best, all of whom care for you and are totally honest to you. You'd better lect people with various backgrounds, from your college-mates to your family. Not only will a diver group give you different original solutions, they are more likely to offer you their networks and efforts to help you achieve the goal. Kim, for
example, invited both a trusted colleague and her boss to join her team.
The role you play is a listener to their criticisms, though it's not always easy. Kim argued with her team so much that her colleague finally said, "Look, if you're going to ask for my advice and always disagree with it, it's not worth my making the effort to give it." You can ask your team members to explain themlves clearly, but do not contradict (反驳) them, even if you feel a team member has made a terrible misjudgment. This is his "gift" to you. And if four out of five people are giving you the same gift, then they are more likely to point out something right. In a word, by reaching out to your team with generosity when asking for their counls, you'll be rewarded with the key to your problem.

2、 Anne Whitney, a sophomore at Colorado State University, first had a problem taking test when she began college. "I was always well prepared for my tests. Sometimes I studi
ed for weeks before a test. Yet I would go in to take the test, only to find I could not answer the questions correctly. I would blank out becau of nervousness and fear. I couldn't think of the answer. My low grades on the tests did not show what I knew to the teacher." Another student in microbiology had similar experiences. He said, "My first chemistry test was very difficult. Then, on the cond test, I sat down to take it, and I was so nervous that I was shaking. My hands were moving up and down so quickly that it was hard to hold my pencil. I knew the material and I knew the answers. Yet I couldn't even write them down."
The two young students were experiencing something called test anxiety. Becau a student worries and is uneasy about a test, his or her mind does not work as well as it usually does. The student cannot write or think clearly becau of the extreme tension and nervousness. Although poor grades are often a result of poor study habits, sometimes test anxiety caus the low grades. Recently, test anxiety has been recognized as a real problem, not just an excu or a fal explanation of lazy students.
Special university counling cours try to help students. In the cours, counlors try to help students by teaching them how to manage test anxiety. At some universities, students take tests to measure their anxiety. If the tests show their anxiety is high, the students can take short cours to help them deal with their tension. The cours teach students how to relax their bodies. By controlling their nervousness, they can let their minds work easy. Learned information then comes out without difficulty on a test.
