athlete指运动员,从事体育运动的人,强调身体健硕的人。
如:He is real athlete. 他的实力真是名不虚传。

Sportsman也指运动员,但更强调职业,强调精神。
如:He is a real sportsman. 他才配是真正的运动员。
athletic adj. 健硕的,运动员般的
sportsmanlike adj. 有体育道德的,有风格的

辨析gold与golden
gold指金制的,如:gold watch,gold pen等

attend那么译为出席,一般指出席会议等。

辨析:prepare与prepare for
prepare是准备的意思

比较状语从句中,as,than的后面的从句中用动词的不同时态表示与以前,过去及将来相比。

介词+which的定语从句,注意此句中pete的用法。

注意:奥运会Olympic Games永远以复数形式出现

注意:ranking在此处做伴随状语,注意rank的词组,rank sb. sth.〔给某人定为…身份,头衔〕和sb. rank sth.〔某人处于…身份头衔〕

构词法,名词宾语+doing合成形容词

注意此处的ever的用法和意义,此处用ever修饰最高级best,且此处的ever当永远,有史以来讲。这一点从ever大哥大手机图片构成的合成词中也可以见到,如:ever-green〔长青的〕

将来进行时,表示将来某时正在做某事。
light sth. 点燃,注意light的形容词lighted和lit
首先它们都是light的过去式和过去分词,但它们作形容词时的用法不太相同,
如:The candle was lit/lighted.
a lighted candle
由此不难看出发育迟缓怎么办lit和lighted都可以用于表语,而只有lighted才能用于定语。
〔二〕WORKBOOK重难点

注意reprent一词,有“代表〞的意思,且多用于被动语态。
Matches will be won or lost in a matter of conds.
注意此句中matter的用法,matter有“事情,事情的核心〞的意思,如:It’s not a matter of money, but a matter of time.
