摘要：1378258 Engine starter drives BENDIX CORP 6 April 1973 [27 April 1972] 16719/73 Heading F1K A starter drive for an internal combustion engine includes a power shaft 12, a sleeve 14 slidably keyed to the power shaft, the sleeve having external helical splines 18 formed on one extremity thereof, a pinion gear 26 slidably journalled for axial movement relative to the power shaft and adapted for movement towards and away from a gear 22 of the engine to be started, a driven clutch member 30 cured to the pinion gear for movement therewith, a driving clutch member 20 threaded on the sleeve splines, the clutch members having complementary inclined torque transmitting teeth 34, 36 adapted to provide an indexing and an over-running clutch connection and a barrel housing 38 including an opened and a clod end. The housing is slidably supported at the clod end adjacent the other extremity of the sleeve, the housing encompassing the driving and driven clutch members, and an axial spacing 70 between the driving clutch member and the clod end of the housing is such that the clutch members will over-run when the driven clutch member is in its fully indexed position. The starter drive compris lock means 42 in the housing adjacent the open end thereof and adapted for engagement with the clutch members for confining the clutch members within the housing and resilient means 50 within the housing abutting the driving clutch member and biasing the clutch members into engaged position. Means for moving the starter gear asmbly towards or away from the engine gear 22 may compri a conventional solenoid, air or hydraulic cylinder actuated lever connected with the shift collar 52.
