1.OBJECT AND FIELD OF APPLICATION
The object of this method is to measure the “fogging” caud by materials ud in the pasnger co
mpartment of a vehicle.
It concerns all interior trim materials (textiles, leathers, plastic coated fabrics, etc.) and parts in the pasnger compartment (acoustic insulating material, at foam, facia panel parts, moulded parts such as rear parcel shelf or door panel, etc.).
It also applies to paste or liquid products (plasticirs, raw materials, etc.).
This method is drawn from the german standard DIN 75201 “Determination of condensation on materials from the interior fittings of motor vehicles”

3.TERMINOLOGY AND DEFINITION
A dictionary (glossary) of the main terms and their definitions ud within the activities of the Department "Amont Technico-Industriel" can be consulted in-hou via the glossary Nectar (). This glossary is constantly up-dated.
3.1.DEFINITIONS
For the requirements of this norm, the following terms are defined:
CONDENSATION or FOGGING Condensation of volatile products relead by materials in the pasnger compartment, on the windows and in particular on the windscreen and rear window
CONDENSATION RATING « F » Gives the loss of reflectance in percentage. It corresponds to the ratio of a glass plate reflectances at 60°, measured before and afte r the test.
GRAVIMETRY « G » This is the measurement of the mass of condend parts G collected on aluminium
foil after the test.
3.2.ACRONYMS
Not applicable.
4.PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST METHOD
There are two principles:
4.1.REFLECTOMETRIC METHOD
Has the aim of measurement of the impact volatil products relead by the materials, ud in the pasnger compartment of a vehicle, on glass surfaces. This test is realid by introduction in a heat-controlled bath of materials specimens, in order to measure the impact and the nuisance of volatil products suitable for ttle on a glass plate cooled. The deposits are measured using a reflectometer and visually evaluated. The test duration is of
3 hours at the temperature defined in the specification of the part.
4.2.GRAVIMETRIC METHOD茹毛饮血意思
Has the aim to quantify the mass of volatil products relead by the materials ud in the pasnger compartment of a vehicle on glass surfaces. This test is realid by introduction in a heat-controlled bath of materials specimens, in order to measure the quantity of volatil products suitable for ttle on an aluminuim foil covered by a glass plate cooled. The deposits are weighed with the aluminium foil. The test has a duration of 16 hours at the temperature defined in the specification of the part.
4.3.TEST METHOD
The first test to be carried out is the Reflectance test to qualify the customer's effect, this is only in ca
s of doubt on the test result (deposit type, F%), that an expert testomony is realid in reflectance and/or gravimetric to quantify the deposit.
5.EQUIPMENT AND REAGENTS
5.1.CONDITIONING BATH
Consisting of a receptacle equipped with a thermostat capable of fitting 6 beakers. The internal dimensions of the receptacle must be at least 550 mm x 270 mm x 260 mm.
The temperature of the bath is controlled by the thermostat so that the test is carried out between 60°C and 130°C. Safety devices must be incorporated to prevent overheating. The flow, the volume of heat carrying fluid (on glycol-polyethylène ou glycol polypropylène ba) and the heating must be such that the temperature of the entire bath does not vary by more than 0,5°C from the test temp erature.
The bath must be such that after introducing the beakers into the bath, the temperature does not drop by more than 3°C and that a return to the test temperature is ob tained after a maximum of 10 min. The minimum distance between the beakers and the wall is 30 mm and 75 mm between the bottom of the bath and the bottom of the beakers (e Appendix 1).
Note:See Appendix 8 for the adress of bath conditioning suppliers.
5.2.COOLING SYSTEM
It consists of a hollow cooling plate in anti-corrosion metal (aluminium for example), with two cooling water connections located so that the cooling water flows inside the plate.
The contact surface with the glass plate must be flat. The weight of the cooling plate filled with water must be at least 1 kg in order to prevent a vertical push of the beaker in the bath.
A cooling plate must be provided for each location.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Flat type thermocouple, infrared, with wires, of type K or any other type suitable for measuring the temperature of baths and plates. See Appendix 6 Bis
Note:See Appendix 8 dor the adress of nsor suppliers.
