Years ago, when I was starting exploring the world—making my first trips to Africa,Asia and the Arctic—I made the decision not to take a lot of,or in some cas,any photographs.
At the time,I believed looking at the world through a camera prevented my ability to e what was really in front of me and to notice what mattered.I thought that trying to take pictures took me out of the moment and made me pay more attention to constructing an image rather than focusing on what I was experiencing.
However, today I take plenty of photos, not just on my journeys but almost every day when I notice an interesting mushroom while walking the dog with my wife, watch the clo

That’s what our phenomenal photographers do for our magazine. And it’s why I'm so plead that we have made this month’s magazine immer(使沉浸)you in that work.
Of cour, the professionals have a much more different relationship with photography than I do.Their work is creatively, intellectually and logistically challenging in ways that most of us amateur photographers can hardly imagine. For them,it is an art and a science that they’ve perfected—a way to stop us in our tracks and make us pay attention to a story that needs to be told.
