The front side of the first layer has a front face being made from a scuff resistant material. The cond layer is a pressure nsitive adhesive on the back side of the first layer. The pressure nsitive
adhesive is for attaching the first layer to a stair rir. The third layer is removably attached to the pressure nsitive adhesive. Whereby, the third layer may be removed from the pressure nsitive adhesive to expo the pressure nsitive adhesive for installation of the first layer on the stair rir. The method of protecting a stair rir us the scuffguard, where the third layer is removed from the pressure nsitive adhesive, and the first layer is attached to the stair rir via the pressure nsitive adhesive.
