Driver – An Overview
OVERVIEW
The purpo of this document is to provide an overview of the post installation steps associated with the Oracle HRMS 11i Application. The post installation steps, the Data Installer and the Legislative Install ( hrglobal driver) will be examined in terms of purpo, application and example. Basic troubleshooting tips, and sources of additional information are also provided.
POST INSTALL STEPS - DEFINITION AND PURPOSE
The Oracle HRMS 11i product is just one of the suite of Oracle 11i Application products, and is designed to rve the Global HR and Payroll needs of Oracle customers.
The core functionality of HR and Payroll is delivered through the Auto-install process. Specializing the customer’s application for specific localizations is done by legislative-specific eding of data in the post installation steps when installing, upgrading, or applying patchts.
The Data Installer is designed to create an object for every legislation to be installed. The Data Installer is a simple java program, to be run after the product installation or patcht install. This will allow the customer to determine which HR/Payroll legislations are to be implemented.
Each of the created objects is then ud by ADPATCH in the next and final post installation step, the hrglobal driver. The hrglobal driver’s only function is to apply the legislative data lected via the Data Installer.
The Data Installer
The Data Installer is invoked after the completion of the Auto-Install process or the application of an HRMS minipack or patcht. The Data Installer should be run for full installations of HR and Payroll. It is not necessary to invoke the Data Installer or execute post installation steps for Shared HR installations.
If upgrading an 11i instance or applying the latest legislative data, a product may already be marked as 'Installed'. In this ca Force Install must be chon to update the legislative data.
The Data Installer should be run by the ur: APPLMGR. The Data Installer is invoked by using the following command at the unix command line:
jre oracle.apps.per.DataInstall <urname> <password> <protocol>
<connection>
where:
• <urname>/<password> refers to the APPS schema
• <protocol> should normally be "thin"
• <connection> is connection information in the form of
hostname:dbport:oraclesid
for example:
• jre oracle.apps.per.DataInstall apps apps thin dbsvr1:1521:testdb
