OG P975
The following passage is excerpted from a British novel published in the mid-nineteenth century.
| It was interesting to be in the quiet old town once more, |
| and it was not disagreeable to be here and there suddenly |
| recognized and stared after. One or two of the tradespeople |
line | even darted out of their shops, and went a little way down |
5 | the street before me, that they might turn, as if they had |
| forgotten something, and pass me face to face- on which |
| occasions I don’t know whether they or I made the wor |
| pretence they of not doing it, or I of not eing it. Still, |
| my position was a distinguished one, and I was not at all |
10 | dissatisfied with it, until Fate threw me in the way of |
| that unlimited miscreant, Trabbs boy. |

It was interesting to be in the quiet old town once more, and it was not disagreeable to be here and there suddenly recognized and stared after. Still, my position was a distinguished one, and I was not at all dissatisfied with it, until Fate threw me in the way of that unlimited miscreant, Trabbs boy.
Casting my eyes along the street at a certain point of my progress, I beheld Trabb’s boy approaching, lashing himlf with an empty blue bag. … As I pasd him, his teeth loudly chattered in his head, and with every mark of extreme humiliation, he prostrated himlf in the dust.“我”沿街走的过程中眼睛四下打量,发现一个小裁缝走身上捆着个空的蓝袋子。…
This was a hard thing to bear, but this was nothing. I had not advanced another two hundred yards, when, to my inexpressible terror, amazement, and indignation, I again beheld Trabb’s boy approaching. … His sufferings were hailed with the greatest joy by a knot of spectators, and I felt utterly confounded.
I had not got as much further down the street as the post office, when I again beheld Trabb’s boy shooting round by a back way. … The disgrace attendant on his immediately afterwards taking to crowing and pursing me across the bridge with crows, as from an exceedingly dejected fowl how had known me when I was a blacksmith, culminated the disgrace with which I left the town, and was, so to speak, ejected by it into the open country. The disgrace attendant … culminated the disgrace with which I left the town, and was ejected by it into the open county.
The general organization of the passage is best described by which of the following?
A. A remembrance of three encounters that lead to ignominious flight
B. An account of a looly related ries of events
C. A narration that demonstrates the circular logic behind Trabb’s boy’s actions
D. A description of an action form veral points of view
E. A progression from a state of isolation to a state of community and fellowship
The narrators prentation is most like that of a
A. novelist commenting on an influential predecessor
B. mechanic explaining the reason a machine has broken down
C. social commentator delivering an exhortation
D. scientist explaining a controversial hypothesis
E. writer recounting an unpleasant personal experience

This passage, taken from an early nineteenth-century novel, prents two characters – Shirley Keeldar, a young woman of twenty-one who has inherited a fortune and land in Yorkshire, England, and Mr. Sympson, the uncle who was her guardian until she reached

第一段告诉我们这两个人的性格would not harmonize不会和谐,并且never had harmonized从来没和谐过。
