Anne Shirley’s past:
She was born in Bolingbroke ,Nova Scotia(p43) .
She was adopted by Mr.and Mrs.Thomas after her parents had both died of fever when she was just 3 months old.She lived with them until she was eight years old and she helped look after the Thomas children.Then,Mr.and Mrs.Hammond adopted her for two years. She was nt to the asylum at Hopetoun afterwards and stayed there four months until Mrs.Spencer came.(p44-p46)
She never had real friends before living at Green Gables and she was forced to invent
imaginary playmates.She named her reflection "Katie Maurice" and the echo "Violetta" ,and regard them as her intimate friends.(p66-p67)
Gilbert Blythe’s past:
He was head of his class.But later he went with his father who was sick and had to go out to Alberta for his health.They were there three years and he didn't go to school hardly any until they came back (p123).
