恩里克·博拉诺斯（Enrique Bolaños）于2015年5月21日正式接替阿图罗·康多，担任INCAE商学院的院长。在这之前他担任INCAE商学院副校长及恩里克·巴拉诺斯基金会主席。博拉诺斯先生叱咤商界30多年，功成名就，现在他将利用他毕生的经验来帮助INCAE商学院扩大在拉美乃至全球的影响。
During our interview on the Walter Kissling Gam campus in Costa Rica, the next rector of INCAE Business School, Enrique Bolaños, has a rene composure. Taking time out from hosting the Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández during his visit, he shares some thoughts with us about the new challenge of heading up the best business school in Latin America.

Q: How does it feel to be the new Rector of INCAE?

A: It is truly a great honor. It’s a bit like when you get the news that you’ve been accepted to INCAE (I still remember that day even after all the years) but much more inten! Obviously it wasn’t a surpri, since I’ve been vice rector of the institution for the past few years, but it isn’t something I imagined when I graduated, or when I retired from my business career. But now I’m ready to role up my sleeves and get started.
这实在是莫大的荣幸。我此刻的心情可能跟你如果收到INCAE的录取通知书时的心情类似，当然我内心激动的程度肯定远胜于你。这么多年过去了，我还记得当初收到INCAE录取通知书时的兴奋劲。这对我来说不是什么惊喜，因为过去几年我已经担任INCAE的副校长。但当校长这件事情我在从INCAE毕业时从来没有想过，在我退出商界生涯的时候也没有企盼过。但现在我已经做好准备要卷起袖子大干一场。

You are a businessman with a successful career. Why did you decide to take on this position?
你是一位成功的商人，在商界取得了非凡的成就。为什么你会接受这个职务？
A: More than anything, becau I feel I can make a difference. Like you said, I have had a successful international business career, and I’ve dedicated my life to making the different parts of companies work together as efficiently as possible to get lasting results (of all kinds). Organizations of all types need this kind of approach. As you’ve en in your finance and operations cours on the MBA, an organization’s success in fulfilling its mission comes, to a great extent, from solid management of all types of resources.
因为我由衷地感到我能做出些许贡献。正如你所说，我的国际商业生涯取得了成功，我倾注了大量心血整合企业，使不同部门尽可能高效协作，获得更持久的效果。任何形态的组织机构都需要采用这种方法。正如你在MBA 的财务和运营课程中所见，一个组织究竟能否成功地履行其使命，在很大程度上取决于对各种不同资源的整合管理。

I’m a firm believer in INCAE’s mission: “To actively promote the comprehensive development of the c
ountries it rves; training leaders for key ctors, improving their methods, attitudes and values through: teaching, rearch and publication of modern management concepts and techniques; strengthening analytical abilities and the understanding of economic, political and social phenomena; facilitating dialogue, understanding and collaboration between individuals, ctors and nations.” That’s a lot to do! As Incaistas we all share this great responsibility, but especially, tho of us who run this institution, and in particular, the rector.

Q: What do you think INCAE’s strengths and weakness are today?
你认为INCAE现在有哪些优势和弱势？
A: I believe our main strength is our faculty, they are the ones who really make the difference, as it should be. They are not just leaders in their fields in INCAE or Latin America, but worldwide. As you know, we have visiting academics, professionals and students who live the INCAE experience, and when I ask them what impress them the most, they always mention our professors.
我认为INCAE最大的优势是师资。我们的老师的确是也应该是INCAE之所以卓尔不群的根源。他们不

Another of our strengths in recent years has been the development of a portfolio of very strong programs, thanks to the work of Camelia Ilie and Luis Umaña and their teams. The number of applicants to all programs has incread—always a good sign! Beyond this, I think we can be proud of the high quality of the programs, which have also remained flexible and aligned to the needs of business and executives.

Here, I’m going to move away from the typical SWOT analysis, becau rather than talk about weakness I prefer to talk about areas for improvement. Like any institution, INCAE has room for improvement (I’m sure that if I were interviewing you, you’d be giving me a list of ideas right now).

Let’s take our facilities. There is no other business school in the world that offers all masters students the chance to live together on such verdant campus, something that (I’m sure you agree) really adds value to the MBA experience. That said, we need to invest in improving the facilities, and not only for executive programs. Reviving and renovating the campus is very important to me, and something I have been leading over the past few years and will continue to promote as rector.

Another area of improvement would be our commitment to alumni. The two years of MBA fly by, and often it is later, when graduates are taking on challenging projects, that they need more support from
INCAE and to connect with others in similar situations. We have a very strong alumni network, thanks to the high quality
education we have provided for more than fifty years, but some graduates feel detached from INCAE, and that is something we need to change.
另一个有待改进的地方是我们对校友的承诺。读MBA的两年时间是过得很快的，往往是在毕业之后踏入工作岗位面对极具挑战的项目时更需要母校的支持，与其他情况类似的校友取得联系。五十多年来INCAE专注于提供优质的教育，培养了诸多优秀的人才，形成了强大的校友网络，但也有一些校友跟母校的关系比较疏远，这是我们需要改进的。
I am also aware that there is room for improvement in our communications with all of you, as well as in student and career rvices. We’ve taken the first steps to improve this, but need to have a longer, ongoing conversation with students, to share ideas about areas of improvement and to design a joint plan of action. I think a large part of my success in business came from the ability to listen, analyze and take action. I intend to listen intently as rector and will listen to you students.
此外我还认识到在我们与学生的沟通以及学生服务和职业发展服务方面有待进一步改善。我们已经为此采取了一些行动，但是还需要持续花更多时间与学生交流，探讨需要改进的地方，共同制定行动计划。我认为我在商业上取得了成功，很大程度上是因为我能倾听别人的意见和建议，然后加以分析，最后付诸行动。作为校长，我愿意多听听学生们的心声。
