This unit introduces learners to the global economy and the many features that make up a global economic environment. Learners will build upon knowledge they have already learned from previous economic units. Learners will study in greater depth economic concepts in particular international trade, payments, exchange rates and economic change. Learners will also enhance their rearch and analytical skills in line with the core skills needs for economic understanding.

Guidance on delivery and asssment
Delivery Strategies
This unit has links with unit 3 (Economic Issues: An Introduction) and Unit 8 (Economics: Micro and Macro Theory and Application). This unit is designed to compliment other units within the syllabus of Global Trade and Business. It is esntial that learners gain an understanding of all the relevant components associated within a business and its international environment.
The teaching and learning model can be described as facilitative and directed at developing occupational competence. In terms of teaching-learning methodology, a combination of the following styles of delivery should be ud: prentation methods (lectures), discussion methods and group Work (tutorials & group tasks), lf-study methods (individual assignments). Centres should adopt a proactive approach towards the delivery if this unit by utilising reported cas from the press and media. Candidates should be encouraged to source relevant internet, journals, magazines, n
ewspapers. Learners should also be encouraged to u the articles as discussion topics within the learning environment.
Learners require access to an appropriate environment whereby they can work to produce the required evidence with supervision and direction as required. Learners should be able to discuss and consider the impact of all relevant information to their occupation/subject area and be allowed to examine various outcomes of their asssment.
