通过本单元第一课型的学习，学生基本上激活了已有的语言知识，对本单元的话题（What’s the matter?）已经有所感知，对于health problems and accidents以及 first aid等内容有了更加深入的学习，让学生有了学习英语更加强烈的愿望和兴趣。同时，为本课型的课文Bus Driver and Pasngers Save an Old Man的阅读和理解以及谈论如何提高英语的听说读写、语音和词汇等搭建了足够的语言支架。但是学生在之前的学习中还未曾见过新闻题材的文章，因此本篇文章的文体特征和文章结构对于大多数学生而言较为陌生。
