If something hits the spot, it is exactly what is wanted or needed. For example, if food hits the spot, it tastes good and makes you feel satisfied. hit the spot表示正好满足了某种需要，“到达了某个点”。在口语中，某样东西能hit the spot，一定是让你感觉很痛快，很过瘾。
Examples:

Examples:
This joke is too funny. You make my day. 这笑话很有趣。让我很开心！

When someone stays stuck in a rut, he/she is doing the same thing all the time so that he/she maybe feels bored or stays in a situation where it is impossible to make progress. rut本身指车轮驶过留下的印痕，引申指从过去延续下来的老一套，老规矩。be(stuck) in a rut指处于墨守成规、一成不变并进而不思进取的一种状态。
Examples:
The economy is still stuck in a rut. 经济仍旧停滞不前。
When you feel stuck in a nut, it is time for you to learn something new. 如果你感到自己陷入停滞不前的状态，你该学一些新东西了。

Examples:

When someone is playing hooky, he/she is skipping school or work with no excus. play hooky指某人无故翘班或者逃学。我们也可以说成play truant（from work or school）。
Examples:

I never played hooky when I was a kid. 我小时候从来不逃学。
