1.0 PURPOSE
The purpo of this standard is to define the minimum requirements for houkeeping and illumination at the worksite.
2.0 SCOPE
The standard applies to the worksites at SABIC and it’s Affiliates facilities.
3.0 DEFINITIONS
3.1 Foot-Candle: A unit of illumination. The illumination at a point on a surface which is one foot from, and perpendicular to, a uniform point source of one candle.
3.2 Lux: A unit of illumination. 10 Lux is equal to one (1) foot candle.
3.3 Shall: Signifies mandatory requirements.
3.4 Should: Signifies recommended/optional requirements.
4.0 REQUIREMENTS
SABIC and its Affiliates shall develop procedures and programs that meets the following requirements for houkeeping and illumination:
SABIC Industrial Security shall be consulted for any clarification to this standard. The clarification given by SABIC Industrial Security shall be complied with and considered final.
4.1 Work environments shall be maintained in a manner that is neat, orderly, and free from tripping hazards. The following good houkeeping practices shall be followed:
4.1.1 Tripping hazards such as telephone lines, power cords, airlines, furniture, rope, hos
es, pallets, etc. shall not obstruct employee walkways, emergency exits, or stairs. If such a practice is unavoidable, proper barricades and covering of the hazard shall be provided.
4.1.2 The minimum walkway width shall be 115 cms.
4.1.3 Trash, scrap, and debris shall not be allowed to accumulate. Arrangements shall be made for its disposal to keep the accumulation to a minimum. Protruding nails and other sharp objects shall be removed or bent over in such a manner that they no longer prent a risk.
4.1.4 Material and equipment shall be placed back in storage when the job for which they were utilized is finished.
4.1.5 Material and equipment shall not be stored, parked or left in a manner that obstructs access to fire extinguishers, fire/water/gas valves, electrical switches, emergency showers/eyewashes, etc.
4.1.6 Storage shelving, racks, cabinets, files, etc. shall be anchored and cured in a manner to prevent tipping over.

4.1.7 Machinery related spills (i.e., oil, dust metal shavings, hydraulic fluids, etc.) onto walkways and working surfaces shall be prevented with the u of collection bags, drip pans, splash guards or other effective means. Spills shall be immediately cleaned and dispod off properly.
4.1.8 Potentially flammable and combustible materials shall be placed back in approved storage cabinets at the end of each shift, or when not in u. Compresd gas bottles/cylinders shall be removed from the work area and placed in their approved storage location at the end of each shift, or when not in u.
4.1.9 Good houkeeping practices shall be followed. Personnel shall ensure that at the end of each shift, work areas and break areas are neat and orderly.
4.1.10 Floors of work environments shall be maintained in a clean and oil free manner. A
dditionally, repair requests shall be prioritized in a manner that places the greatest emphasis on reducing the level of employee exposure to a hazardous condition.
4.2 Emergency lighting shall be provided and shall be operable in the facility.
4.3 差距英语Functional test on emergency lighting equipment using the following guidelines shall be conducted:
4.3.1 At 30-day intervals for a minimum of 30 conds.
4.3.2 An annual test for 1.5 hour duration.
4.3.3 Equipment shall be fully operational for the duration of the test.
4.3.4 Written records for equipment testing shall be maintained.
4.3.5 All exits and egress shall be illuminated with emergency and non-emergency lighting, to provide a minimum of 10 Lux (1 foot-candle) at the floor. The illumination shall be arranged such that the failure of any single lighting unit, including the burning out of an
electric bulb, will not leave any area in total darkness.
4.4 Adequate lighting shall be provided at work locations. Following illumination intensities shall be maintained:
