Kemira antiscalants are designed to treat a variety of scales encountered in oilfield production operations – from land to offshore. Surface water quality and down-hole fluids routinely combine to form waters incapable of maintaining the solubility of all dissolved ions. The resulting scale deposits restrict flow through injection, production and tubing strings, contribute to pump wear, incread suck
er rod loads, fouling of heat exchanger equipment and under deposit corrosion problems at all well locations.
Available water for drilling, stimulation and production often ranges from brackish to brine with high levels of hardness, salts and other contaminants. Water reu and zero discharge at well sites concentrates water quality to higher dissolved solids and drives the formation of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate, strontium sulfate

ctive for barium sulfate control and far outperforms conventional phosphonate technology in low temperature conditions where barium sulfate deposition is more difficult to control. Cy-guard 269 technology is a market-leading product for the prevention of barium sulfate scale in the North Sea. Cy-guard is functional for calcium carbonate scale and is resistant to the prence of ferric and hardness ions, which can deactivate simple polycarboxylic acid and phosphonate scale inhibitors.

Colloid 8001 and Colloid 8010 scale inhibitors were specifically designed to treat calcium scale, in high calcite saturation conditions. The new inhibitors utilize unique calcium resistant phosphonate and polymer technology to provide outstanding treatment of calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, as well as effective inhibition of barium sulfate scale. They “extend the treatment zone” for calcium scale and provide the ability to treat scale under vere oilfield conditions and high temperatures. Not many scale-inhibitors can treat calcium scale 100% under vere conditions - Colloid 8001 and Colloid 8010 can. The best choice of Colloid product will depend on the specific oilfield conditions and scale composition.
