Entering Commands in the Command Line
You can enter commands directly into CFX-Build by typing in the Command Line which is located in CFX-Build’s Top Window.
The commands that you enter must be in a format called Patran
Command Language (PCL)(e PCL (Patran Command Language)Commands (p.114) for more details).Command Line
Editing History List commands in the Command Line
The history list contains commands and informational messages.The commands or messages may be edited by clicking once on a line in the history list,causing its contents to be written to the command line.Now,the command line may be edited. Pressing the return key on the
keyboard caus the new command to be executed.Double clicking on a line within the history list caus that command to be executed.CFX-Build 5

Command Line comments
There are three different types of comments that appear in the history
list (note that “$” must be the first character on a comment line).
$?Indicates system generated message respons and questions made by
CFX-Build. The comments can only be en in the ssion file.

$#Indicates system generated informational message. The provide ur
feedback about the previous command executed.
$This is called a PCL comment.Comments may be recorded to the ssion
file during a ssion by typing a “$” before the comment in the command
line.
Type in the command in the command line databox and press the
carriage return key when done. If the command is not recognid, an
informational message will be generated indicating that it is not
supported. Converly, a recognid command will result not only in
an informational message stating that it is supported,but one or more
lines of PCL commands and system generated informational
messages will also follow.
PCL (Patran Command Language) Commands星号键
Any PCL command or mathematical function may be entered into
CFX-Build via the command line. Refer to the PCL andmists
Customisation an d the PCL Reference Manual for more specific
information on PCL commands. The manuals are available from
your local CFX office upon request.
Aliasing PCL commands
Aliasing is a convenient feature of the command line. The aliasing
feature allows an alphanumeric string to be defined which can be
substituted for a complete or partial PCL command.
There are some restrictions on ur-defined alias.The alphanumeric
characters must not contain delimiters(spaces,commas,parenthes,
brackets,micolons,slashes,graves,and accents).If the alias string
contains delimiters, only the portion of the string to the left of the first
delimiter will be procesd. Strings containing delimiters must be

The format for tting up aliasing is as follows:

alias ‘new_name’ ‘old_name’
where ‘new_name’ is your defined string, and ‘old_name’ is the
complete or partial PCL command to be replaced.Alias,‘new_name’,
and‘old_name’must be parated from each other by a single space.

To e a list of already created alias,type only the word alias in the
command line. Note that aliasing of the alias command is not
recommended.To delete the alias for‘new_name’,as defined above,
type insoda
alias ‘new_name’
Here are a few examples:
alias ds string dummy[256]Declare a global PCL string called
dummy.
alias dd dump dummy Print the contents of dummy to the
history list.
alias check_env STRING
