1. INTRODUCTION

Pressurized modules are available for OEM integration in non-GE designed and offered systems.
Packaged plants are lf-contained units that are easily shipped and installed by an OEM or an end client.  A parate backpul, clean-in-place (CIP) or compresd air skid may also be required.
Larger capacity custom designed plants are broken down into trains, with each train comprid of up to four membrane racks in ries. A large plant will typically be designed with veral trains for redundancy. Each train will have its own skid containing pumps, valves and instrumentation and will be controlled by a slave controller.
A master PLC/HMI will control the entire plant. See Figure 1 for a schematic reprentation. Addition
al skids can contain CIP chemical dosing systems, neutralization equipment, feed and permeate tank, backpul equipment and compresd air systems. Plants larger than 5 mgd will have a common pump skid consisting of one or more feed pumps with valve/instrumentation racks that join to the module racks.

A module is the basic building block and the smallest replaceable unit of a ZW1500 membrane syste
m.  ZW1500 module is vertically oriented with the feed water entering the module from the bottom.  The module operates under pressure from a feed pump which forces the water through the membrane. Permeate is collected at the top of the module through the permeate port.
