An adverbial clau is a dependent clau that functions as an adverbs. In other words, an adverbial clau contains a subject (explicit or implied) and a predicate, and it modifies a verb. According to Sidney Greenbaum and Randolph Quirk, adverbial claus function mainly as 石家庄外语培训adjuncts or disjuncts. In the functions they are like adverbial phras, but due to their potentiality for greater explicitness, they are more often like prepositional phras (Greenbaum and Quirk,1990).There are nine kinds of adverbial claus: adverbial claus of time, adverbial claus of place, adverbial claus of condition, adverbial claus of reason, adverbial claus of purpo, adverbial claus of result, adverbial claus of concession, adverbial claus of manner and adverbial claus of comparison.

Adverbial claus of place are introduced by the following subordinators: where wherever and everywhere. The clau can be put either before or after the main clau. “Where” means in a certain place; “Wherever” means in any place; “Everywhere” means in every place.
