I heated up a cup of coffee today. I wasn’t sure if I should laugh or cry as I stood
there holding
the steaming cup for the cond time. My son woke up crying, and it took nearly an hour
of singing and rocking to get him back to sleep. During this time, my coffee got cold. So,

I grew up vowing(发誓) never to be like my mom. She is a wonderful woman, but no one
in town emed to know her name. To the teachers and students at the schools her children attended, she was simply known as mom. And other people in town addresd her as Mrs. Keffer, Dad’s last name. Mom’s answer to all of this was always a smile and some kind words.
As a teen, I never understood my mom. How could someone with so much to offer the world be cont
ent to stay home and be known as an adjunct(附属)to her husband or as someone’s mom? Why wasn’t she proud of who she was?
All I knew was that this was not going to happen to me. I had big dreams of making a difference in the world. People would know me. I would not be like my mom----I would be me. And people would know me as someone important.
Now I understand. I understood eight months ago as I held my son for the first time.
I understood when his tiny hand wrapped(缠绕) around my finger and his big blue eyes looked into mine. I understood when the love I have for my husband tripled(增⾄三倍) as I first saw t he little body.
I look forward to the day that I wi ll be known as Andrew’s mom to the people in town and the children at school. I am proud to be Mrs. Frank Huff. Just like my mom is proud to be called Mrs. Dale Keffer.

Not many people have the chance of being a pioneer and experiencing a real-life adventure. But tho who will go to live in this new undera city will be able to do just that. There will be no suffering here. In fact it is so comfortable that it has been described as “a silk adventure”. Among its many advantages we include: easy contact(接触) with the land surface, more personal space , complete personal curity and no houwork worries.
There has been a problem in the past when companies tried to design undera cities. The a bottom is deep and this makes it difficult to contact the surface. This difficulty has been solved by shuttle-submarines(潜⽔艇), which will always be ready to take people to the surface. They will be equipped with a special small, computerized machine. All the family will be transported quickly and safely to their destination.
Personal space is important for healthy living. But getting enough of it has been a problem ever since the population grew too large for the available land. This, too, was an important principle behind the design of Saturation City. Everyone will get twice as much personal space as in flats on land. You will be able to explore the a-floor and float among the fish and other a animals, learn about the undera world and enjoy picnics on the coral reefs.
Our organization will look after the curity of all the families in Saturation City. We will check everybody who enters or leaves the city. There will also be computers throughout the city which will be able to ”n” if an object is removed from any hou without permission. Only the robot cleaner will be able to move objects. This new piece of equipment will certainly make your life more enjoyable.
Of cour there will be no houhold worries in Saturation City. Each new well-furnished hou comes with its own robot for family u only. Your details will be fed into its computer hard-drive so that it will only answer your family’s commands. So a spotless hou is yours as soon as you move in.
We hope that this information is enough for you to decide to e our super top-of-the-range apartments and hous. They all come with the special items mentioned above. We hope to e you at one of our many inspection visits.
