first-class science and technology award
The First-Class Science and Technology Award is a highest distinction given by the Chine government to individuals and teams who have made outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology in China. Established in 1999, the Award is organized, managed, and awarded by the State Council and the Central Military Commission of China. It is the most prestigious and highest award in China in the field of natural sciences.
The award includes three different categories: Awards for Natural Sciences, Awards for Technological Invention, and Awards for Technological Progress. The awards are divided into three grades - first-class, cond-class, and third-class. Winners of the first-class award will receive 1 million yuan, and a third-class awardee will receive 300,000 yuan.
Winners of the award will also receive medals in recognition of their achievements. The First-Class Science and Technology Award Medal, the Second-Class Science and Technology Award Medal, and the Third-Class Science and Technology Award Medal are is
sued by the State Council in accordance with the relative importance of awards. The medal features a relief of a red flower and a bee symbolizing diligence and progress with the name of the award inscribed on it.
