Cheminax coaxial cables were designed to solve interconnect
problems in electronic systems such as computers, military equipment and other areas of high density packaging, where cables are required to perform to more exacting specifications than standard RG or UR constructions.Raychem’s leadership in the field of advanced materials technology has made possible the development of dielectric and jacketing materials, resulting in the design of Cheminax miniature coaxial cables offering
substantial savings in size and weight whilst at the same time giving
improvements not only in mechanical
strength, but also reducing capacitance and attenuation.

Dielectrics
Three types are available:
Rayfoam L is an irradiated foamed, low loss polyolefin dielectric suitable for most applications. It co
mbines a low permittivity with an exceptionally low density enabling small size lightweight cables to be designed. If a reduction in size is not required, Rayfoam L enables the u of larger conductors with no overall size increa, reducing the risk of conductor breakage and offering lower signal loss. Low capacitance and high velocity of propagation results from Rayfoam L ’s low permittivity and it is capable of withstanding temperatures in excess of 100°C.
Rayfoam H is also a foamed dielectric
using modified FEP . It is suitable for operation at 200°C. Rayfoam H is available with permittivities as low as 1.4, hence, combined with a low density (64% of PTFE), it also offers
advantages in size, weight, capacitance and velocity.
Rayolin is a modified radiation cross-linked polyethylene. It has a permittivity of 2.3 and a continuous operating temperature of 125°C, offering high temperature dimensional alternatives to standard polyethylene dielectric RG or URM coax cable.

Lower attenuation and capacitance When attenuation and capacitance are the most critical parameters, cables can be designed
