A Word That has Changed the World
Dear Judges, ladies and gentlemen:
This can’t be a question to all of us who lead a much better life than pasd generations and the answer should be quite clear, I assure you, to the ones living in this Information Age. But before I am ready to tell you the very word, I’ll share with you something interesting or boring you may assume, whatever. Now, plea bear with me.
My grandma, who’s a little old woman with grey hair, always wearing kindness on her smiling face, keeps expressing her gratitude to what the world are now. During the times when hunger and dia remained 2 great nightmares for most people, as the old Chine saying goes’ It’s a rarity to live up to 70 ‘, people struggled to meet their basic needs. But now, most dia that was incurable has found a cure and food is ample, covering a large variety.
I ud to ask my father whether they had TVs to entertain in their childhood. He responded with laughter saying’ No—well at least it was not so prevalent. There was only one TV t in the whole small village and every night people circled around it trying each possible way to get the access. It was black-and –white yet not everyone could watch it clearly. And channels were few, signals were weak, screen was small, pictures were far from clear and it was likely to have all the audience merely listen from time to time. Look at what we have now and what we are behaving: we always muttering the screen is not big enough when it is large and how few the channels are when there’re hundreds.
If I were them, I would envy us; and I do pity them—I have to say. It’s so beyond my imagination that there once did exist a world without Internet, cell phone, mini players…a list of things that we are using now everyday. For parents, you don’t have to worry about your apples when you’re thousands of miles apart, enquiry is just a texting, an e-mail, or a click away. For lovers especially guys, you don’t have to surmount a long and trying journey to meet your girls—though it’ll be tremendo
usly romantic or write letters inquiring after them but suffer from a hard time waiting for a reply，online video dialogue has facilitated it. For children, don’t be disappointed about missing your favorite TV show for being late home, or scratch your head over and over again on a math problem, just log online, plenty of resources await you there.
