Love and Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye
The Catcher in the Rye, written by J. D. Salinger and published in 1951, is one of the most modern American classics. It is fashionable in the America especially in the adolescence and its protagonist is also regarded as the typical model in counterculture, praid by generations of Americans.

After that, he walks over to the radiator by the window and sat down on it. Having nothing to do there, he keeps sitting on the radiator and counting the little white squares on the floor. What he is doing is to have a pure mind. Maybe he is thinking why he is lonely and even why the whole world is so lonely to death. Finally he got down of the radiator and goes to the hat-check room. At this time, he “was crying and all. In a world without love and warmness and a world of betrayal, no wonder Holden has no “home” to go back, or has nobody to call to when he goes into a phone booth to talk with someone.
