The relative importance of workers’ appearance and dressing to working quality is arousing greater concern. While I agree that employers should give priority to employees’ performance at workplace, I believe sometimes a dress
code is necessary.
There are two main reasons for tho who oppo a strict dress code in the company. One of them may be that this could stifle the creativity of some professionals, such as designers, cartoonist, programmers etc. since casual dress ems a must for them to free their talent to the fullest. It may be disastrous to require a programmer to wear suit and tie. Another argument may be that uniform might affect their confidence and work performance negatively. The clothes we wear have great impact on our mood. Proper and decent uniform could boost an employer’s confidence, whereas an improper and dissatisfying one can only make an employer uncomfortable and less confident.
Nevertheless, I would argue that sometimes a smart uniform is important for both individual workers and the company as a whole. From an individual level, this can help improve a worker’s n of belonging and teamwork. The clothes we wear define our social identity; wearing the same clothes makes us feel we are a member of a team. From an enterpri’s level, a decent work uniform of staff
dococould leave a good impression on the customers. This is particularly important for such professions, like salesman, account manager and airline attendants etc. since face to face communication is needed. I bet you would never find an account manager in a pair of beach pants and flat shoes to make deposits and transactions.
In conclusion, it is reasonable to assume that employers should undoubtedly be concerned about the workers’ performance, but the positive contribution of smart uniform to working performance should not be overlooked. (300 words)
