Question:
Bad on the definition in 3.1.11 we need for practical reasons to make a list of appliances who unint
entional operation may impair safety. It ems that some of them are clear (hobs, ovens, toasters or hand held blenders) but other are not always obvious (room heaters, tumble dryers).
Decision:

The ad hoc WG “listing standard for dangerous malfunction” compod by Camiciotti
(convenor), Lescure, Skripsky, Tolksdorf, Fietz, Guirado, Kirby and Luettmann have prepared
the following list of standards considering the document discusd in the first day of the
OSM/HA meeting in Malaga (OSM HA (ES) 01-2007.doc), taking into account the item 2.3 of
the MT 23 report to London IEC/TC61 meeting 2006 (e below).
This list has been approved by OSM/HA by correspondence ): no comments received within
one month from the meeting).

2. Part 1 modifications (MT 23 report for London meeting)
(3) Inquiry regarding the appliances starting; is it to become dangerous malfunction or not
was received and discusd. MT23 decided to make recommendation to TC61 that:
Vacuum cleaner: Yes, must not start has high power motor and no Locked Rotor test
Hand held hair curler or hairdryer: Yes, - the hair dryer must not start
Water dispenr or Water cleaner: No
Washing machine or dishwasher tumble dryer: No
Sewing machine: No becau of low motor power
Oven: Not resulted to dangerous malfunction, except only in the ca where operation is possible with “door open” under careless u (forgotten things in cavity) Microwave oven: No – it is already covered by the Part 2. It is also covered by fire condemnation test; door-lock requires mechanical switch.
