Measurement Trade Terms
1. Gross Tonnage (GT): A measure of carrying capacity equal to 100 cubic feet, or 2.83 cubic metres per ton; ud mainly for ships.
2. Deadweight Tonnage (DWT): The maximum weight of cargo, pasngers, fuel oil and stores that a vesl can carry under normal conditions when fully loaded.
3. Net Tonnage (NT): A measure of the total internal volume of a ship’s cargo space in cubic feet. It is usually expresd on register tonnage.
