同屋的同学能相处得很好吗？答案是肯定的。首先，大家在年龄、文化程度、社会地位等
方面的条件是相近、相似甚至是相同的，因而在彼此交往时，容易有共同的感受。行为上的相似，情感上的共鸣，为建立良好的人际关系奠定了基础。同一宿舍的同学，朝夕相处、休戚与共，比与其他同学相处的时间更长、空间上更为接近，大家在一起生活有很多共同的利益，每个同学都希望把自己的宿舍建设成为一个温馨的小屋，因为宿舍就是自己的家。这些都是同屋同学建立良好人际关系的重要条件。
但从另一方面看，同一宿舍内的同学之间各人以往的生活习惯不同，脾气禀性各异，因而也难免会产生一些矛盾，造成发展良好人际关系的障碍。虽然生活中发生的矛盾一般都不是大事，但一些小的额外难题也容易引起情绪上的不愉快。例如，有人习惯于早起，有人习惯于晚睡，因而容易互相干扰。在男生宿舍里许多人颇为大方地把大家的洗衣粉放在一起混用，可过一段时间后，却发现有人买洗衣粉不及时了；而女生宿舍每每又过分小心，往往画地为牢，恨不得在洗脸盆上也贴上一张告示：“某某之物。别人请勿使用！”诸如此类的问题，在宿舍难免会发生，在这个意义上讲，同屋相处的确也不容易。
如何积极地解决与同屋相处可能出现的矛盾，这也是新同学的一新课题。为此，我们提出以下建议，供你参考。
⑴每个人都主动关心和帮助别人。这样做，不但大家的需要都能满足，而且会形成互相增加愉快和友谊的网络。这就需要大家积极参与宿舍的公共事务，如地不扫，桌子不擦，宿舍就会脏乱；如果都等别人打水，等来的不只是干渴，还会憋一肚子火气。
⑵要提倡用个性互补来解决个性差异的矛盾。在一个集体里，要求所有的人都个性相同是不可能的。不论是活泼、开朗，还是文静、典雅，都不能不顾别人而随意骄横、放任自己。关门时重手重脚，你应该想到这不仅仅显得你缺乏教养，而且可能让你的同屋同学神经紧张，心中抱怨；你在高兴时引抗高歌，但同时又有义务看看旁边是否有心烦意乱或正在生病的同学，他们需要安静和关怀。
⑶要善于体谅别人，防止只想自己。只有每个人都信任、关怀别人，才可能得到别人的信任与关怀，又何愁集体搞不好。你在必要时可以让同屋替你带饭或代你值日，但不可以经常如此或任意指使别人为你做这做那。你一时找不到物品，千万不要大叫大嚷，可能你的记忆不准确；即使真出了问题，也可能是个别人所为，可以冷静地分析，寻求解决问题的方法。大叫大嚷既索不回物品还伤了无辜者的心。你需要安静时也许你的同屋吵吵闹闹，应多给予谅解，他们可能不是存心而是考虑问题不够周到。
