1.Warm-up activities
Introductory Remarks:
Step 1: Show some pictures and watch a video, discuss in groups.
Step 2:

1. Analyze the structure of the passage.
2. Introduce the main idea of the Text A. Explain and illustrate the cultural background and language points in the text.
3. Guide students to the correct u of the words, expressions in the text through doing the related exercis.
4. Lead discussions among students on the text and the topic of successful persons.
III. Detailed studies of the text
1.counteract vt. to do something in order to reduce the bad effects of something, or to defend yourlf against them
抵抗,抵制,阻碍,打破 (计划)
They will counteract the effects of his bad influence.

2.drew up: to prepare a written document起草,草拟(文件)

6. gain/get access to: get the right or opportunity to have or u something that will bring you benefits          获得;得到
Students must get access to good books.
学生必须有机会读到好书。
7. Funds were raid, mainly by parents, which enabled the school to gain access to a computer --- a Program Data processor (PDP) --- through a teletype machine.

2. Sentence Structure Analysis:.
1). …the man he says inspired his life in politics.
短语意思为:“那个对他的政治生涯起了鼓舞作用的人”
inspired his life in politics翻译网站在短语中充当定语,修饰the man.
2). …the President showing me from which direction the British had come when they t fire to the White Hou in 1814.
该句为独立主格结构,在整个句子中充当伴随状语。
3). A couple of times, when I bent over my notes, Clinton looked over to them, apparently eking acknowledgement that he was sticking to his script.
句子意思为:“有好几次,当我俯身记录时,克林顿就望望他们,很显然是在确认他的讲话是否与稿子的内容一致。”
apparently eking acknowledgement that he was sticking to his script.为现在分词,在句中充当目的状语。

Help students get familiar with the format of the common parts of a letter and the format of addressing an envelope.

This is the first unit of Book One. In the Listening and Speaking ction, students will learn about communicative skills with making friends. Text A tells us a story of Bill Gates in his childhood. Text B is about another Bill --- Bill Clinton, in which the president tells us the life inside the White Hou.
General objectives:
1.To read to learn the main Chine asonal festivals and their history origin and meanings.
2.To help them learn some phrasal verbs and functional items about the topic and try to u them.
Language aim:

Emotion aim:
To promote students’ qualities of a patriotism(爱国主义精神,爱国心) by learning the main Chine festivals and learn their history origin and their meanings。

Teaching methods:
Brainstorming,  task-bad teaching method , heuristic teaching method , group work.

a recorder, a computer, and blackboard
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Greeting and reviewing.
秋冬服装搭配Greet the class as usual.
Ask: what we can celebrate in our life? Get students to answer using the key words in warming up. eg,
Graduation, a birthday, Christmas, passing an exam, winning a scholarship, a sporting victory, the Mid-Autumn Festival, the New Year, a wedding, Halloween, the Dragon Boat Festival
Step2. Leading-in.
Show students many pictures of different asons on the screen , asking: What’s your favourite ason? Why? Help students answer using the words that they have already learned. Then ask: What festivals happen during your favourite asons? Show more pictures about different festivals on the screen to help them to answer.
Students can work together to answer this question. Eg,
T:What is your favorite ason? What festivals happen during your favorite ason? ( have a discussion)
Explain the differences between Day and Festival.
Step3.While-reading
Activity1.Fast-reading 
Get students to read the text quickly, match the pictures with the festivals.
Activity2. Guessing.
Show some describing ntences on the screen to let students read and guess the names of the three festivals .
Activity3. Careful-reading
This time let students read the text carefully and get more detailed information to fill in the table of exerci3 on page36.
Ask some students to report their answers to the class.
Step4. Practice
Play the tape for the students to listen and ask them to fill in the blanks according the text.
Step5. Post-reading.
Let students discuss with a partner and answer the following question.
