【Introduction】
Yuexiu Park is the largest park in Guangzhou. It is a multipurpo public place in which many recreational and sports facilities are provided, such as stadium, swimming pool, art gallery, children’s playground and so on .Commonly known as the Yuexiu Hill, it consists of ven hills and three manmade lakes, stretching for about three kilometers from east to west, with a total area of 928 thousand square meters.

C., it was already a place famous for its scenic beauty. This corrupt regime was eventually destroyed in the midst of songs and dances and was incorporated into Song’s domain in 971AD.The verdant Yuexiu Hill, with its beautiful subtropical scenery and the many historical remains, has long since been a famous scenic spot in Guangzhou and was chon as one of “The Eight Sights of THE Goat-City” in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties and in modern times as well.
【The Monument to Sun Yat-n 】
This obelisk was constructed in 1929 to commemorate Dr .Sun Yat-n, who was the gre

at forerunner of the Chine bourgeois democratic revolution. (See Sun Yat-n Memorial Hall for further details about Sun Yat-n) It is built of granite blocks,37 meters high ,with a stairca leading up to the top .On the south facade of the obelisk ,the text of Sun Yat-n’s last will and testament (See appendix below) is engraved in a huge granite slab ,7 meters long and 4 meters wide .The monument was designed but a celebrated Chine architect ,by the name of Lu Yanzhi .(See Sun Yat-n Memorial Hall for details about the architect)

into stone ones here .Since then the area has become rich and prosperous and Guangzhou has taken its other names ,City of Goats and City of Rice Ears.

To the north of the Sun Yat-n Monument is a part of a wall ,about 200 meters long .IT is the only part of the old city wall that remains form the Ming Dynasty dating back over 600 years.
【The Zhenhai Tower】
This red building is called Zehnhai Tower and is commonly known as the Five Storey Tower becau it has five stories .It was built by Prince Yongjia of the Ming Dynasty in 1380 during the reign of Emperor Hongwu .
Tradition says that ,one day ,when Zhu Yuanzhang, first emperor of the Ming dynasty ,was touring around the Zhong Hill in Nanjing ,capital of the Ming, an accompanying Taoivolume up什么意思
st priest suddenly pointed to the southeast and said that he saw a mass of “imperial spirit” over the a in Guangdong area and asrted that it was an omen of the birth of a new emperor .He suggested that a tower should be build in Guangzhou to suppress the sprit ;otherwi it would surely bring troubles to the Ming .The emperor was deeply convinced of the ca and ordered Prince Yongjia, the then governor of Guangzhou ,to build this tower.

The tower now hou the Guangzhou Muum with exhibits which describe the history of Guangzhou in the 4000 years from Neolithic times until the early party of this century .The two red sand stone lions in front of the tower were carved during the Ming .In the corridor on the west are 24 inscribed stone tables left over from past dynasties and some cannons for city defen during the Ming and Qing dynasties .
A climb up to the top floor of the tower will be rewarded by a breath –taking panoramic view of the city to the south-the blue sky and the white clouds ,the red flowers and the green trees ,row upon row of buildings and the ribbon like Pearl River leisurely winding its way east into the distance .
In October 1996 ,the Zhenhai tower ,together with the Sculpture of Five Goats ,was appraid and chon as one of the 10 best tourist sights in Guangzhou .
Appendix: English Translation of Sun Yat-n’s Testament
For 40 years I have devoted mylf to the cau of national revolution, the object of which is to rai China to a position of independence and equality among nations . The experience of the 40 years has convinced me that to obtain this goal, the people must be aroud ,and that we must associate ourlves in a common struggle with all the people of the world who treat us as equals .The revolution has not yet been successfully completed .Let all our comrades follow the principles t forth in my writings “Plans for National Renovation”, “Fundamentals of National Reconstruction”, “The Three Principles of the People” and the “Manifesto of the First National Convention of the Kuomintang” and continue to make every efforts to carry them into effect. Above all, my recent declaration in favor of holding a National Convention of the People of China and abolishing unequal treaties should be carried into effect as soon as possible.
