It was a few days before Christmas many years ago and it looked like it would not be a happy one for my family.
The factory that I was working at gave us a long holiday while their machinery was being repaired, that is to say, there is no need for us to go to work. In return for this, we didn't have much money.
My wife and I had managed to save some money to buy our young children some toys, but an unexpected car repair had taken most of our cash. We knew for sure that we could only afford to get one small gift for each of our children.
We arrived at the store and walked down the parking lot past people loading gifts into their cars. I saw the happiness on their faces and I heard them laughing and speaking happily. I envied them a bit, becau it sure didn't feel like Christmas to me. We hurried into the store past old Tom, a beggar who had begged here for many years. To some extent, we had been “friends”. I had always enjoyed putting something in his kettle before and he always held up his thumb to me. But today we pasd him quickly with our heads down, pretending we didn't e him even though I heard clearly he was saying hello to me. I wasn't sure if I could afford gifts for my own family and I could not help others.
We arched all through the store hoping to find one thing each of our small children would like. Thankfully, we were able to get them each something sweet. We headed for the checkout and paid the bills for all the toys children lected. We found that we even had a few dollars left over.

【答案】
Paragraph 1:
With tho dollars left, we walked out of the store. I stopped in front of old Tom, saying Merry Christmas to him and dropped all tho dollars into his kettle without any hesitation. Old Tom smiled at me. I didn't have one dollar left. I even didn't know how to deal with our dinner but it didn't matter. I felt relieved, and I did feel like Christmas around me.
Paragraph 2:
“hdwThis is for your children!” old Tom handed me something. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw what it was—— an invitation to a famous restaurant on Christmas Eve. It invited many children to have dinner and to play games together. Of cour, all free, including their parents. “One of the gifts I received, but you know I have no children, so it’s yours,” old Tom said gently. We had been told many times about the Christmas spirit:
Christmas is giving and receiving in action, but until now, I know each time we give, each time we receive and it’s Christmas.

It was January 24th. I had finally completed my last radiation treatment. It had been a long journey—eight months in total since my initial diagnosis of breast cancer—and I had been looking forward to this day for a very long time. My husband Cay, who was wearing a pink ribbon on his jacket, was waiting for me in the lobby at Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto. As a symbol to rai people’s awareness of breast cancer, the pink ribbon had become a part of our life. On the way back home, we reflected on the past months and discusd what lay ahead for our family.
We arrived home in time to have dinner with our three children—Tyler, eleven, Brady, nin

We were heading to the skating rink(溜冰场) that night. My son Brady had a hockey game and if his Tiger team won, they would move onto the next round. As a typical Canadian hockey mom, I had always loved going to the rink to watch my kids play. But since my diagnosis, the rink and the Tiger players had come to mean even more to me: it was my happy time in tho painful months. ava是什么意思
When we arrived at the rink, we were greeted with warm hellos. You could tell it was a big game as there was a large crowd of Tiger parents gathering in the lobby outside the dressing room. About ten minutes before game time, Brady’s coach came out to the lobby and invited all the parents to come into the dressing room.
