●一、something用作不定代词
1.表示“某种令人不快的事情”。例：
She must be up to something.
她一定在搞什么鬼花招。
There is something in the word.
好像要发生什么事情。
2.表示“聊以自慰的事”、“有价值的事物”的意思。例：
It’s something to have a job at all the days.
现在能找到一份工作就算不错了。
At least we didn’t lo any money.That’s something!
至少我们并未损失什么钱，那已值得庆幸了!
atonement 3.表示“一些吃的喝的东西”的意思。例：
A little something with his meals was an absolute necessity to him.
就餐时少许喝点酒对他来说是绝不可少的。
You must be thirsty;are you sure I can’t offer you something?
你一定是口渴了，你真的不需要我给你弄点什么喝的吗?
4.表示“实有之物”的意思。例：
You can’t get something for nothing.
你不可能不花力气坐享其成。

●二、something用作名词
1.相当于somebody,意为“重要的人物”。例：
She thinks she’s something since she won the beauty contest.
选美比赛得了奖，她就自以为了不起了。
She acts as if she were something since she won the prize.
自从获奖以来她就表现得自命不凡了。
2.表示“重要的事物”。例：
The paintings were really something.
这些画确实出色。
I think you may have something there.

3.表示“少量”、“一些”、“部分”。例：
It is customary to give something to the porter.

●三、something用作副词
1.something用作副词，表示“几分”、“有点”、“稍微”、“大约”的意思。例：

2.something like表示“几分像”、“有点像”、“大约”的意思。例：
The building looks something like a church.

●四、与something的固定搭配，表示各种特殊意思
1.make something of表示“使有用”、“使成为有用的人”、“把……当作了不得的事”的意思。例：
When girls e another girl with a boy,they often try to make something of it.
姑娘们看到有谁跟小伙子在一起，常会小题大做一番的。
2.make something of onelf表示“获得成功”的意思。例：
He’s a clever boy—I hope he’ll make something of himlf.

3.make something out of表示“因……而挑起对抗”的意思。例：
Do you want to make something out of it?

4.or something表示“诸如此类的什么”的意思。例：

5.quite(really) something表示“值得注意的事”的意思。例：
The party was quite(really) something.

6.e something of somebody表示“不时见到某人”的意思。例：

7.something of a(an)+n表示“可以说是一个……”的意思。例：
