Step 1 Greetings
Greet the students as usual.
Step 2 Revision
1. Dictate the important phras and ntences learned last class.
2. Ask some pairs to practice the conversation in the homework.
Step 3 Prentation
Ask:Do you do chores in your home? What do you usually do? What does your mother do? If your mother is tired,would you help her? Get the students to talk about the in p
airs. Then ask some students to report their answers. Then remind them that mother is sometimes tired,so we should help her do chores.
Step 4 Reading
3a, Show the picture of Nancy’s home and say:This is Nancy’s home. What a mess? What happened? Plea read the passage and answer the following questions.
1. Did Nancy do any houwork that day?
2. Why was Nancy’s mom angry with Nancy?
3. Did they solve the problem? How?
3b, Read the story again and read the ntences below. Underline the ntences from the reading that mean the same thing.
1. Neither of us did any houwork for a week.
2. My mom came over as soon as I sat down in front of the TV.
3. You’re tired,but I’m tired,too.
Ask some students to report their answers and help them to understand the underlined parts:1. For one week. She did not do any houwork and neither did I. 2. The minute I sat down in front of the TV,my mom came over. 3. I’m just as tired as you are!
3c Decide whether the underlined words in the ntences are verbs or nouns. Then write another ntence using the underlined word in the other form.

Step 6 Grammar
Could you(plea)+ V-原形?表示委婉地提出请求。
e.g. 1. Could you plea clean your room?
Yes,sure. / Of cour./ Certainly./All right.
2. Could you plea do the dishes?
Sorry,I can’t. I have to do my homework.
在表示请求帮助或请求允许的疑问句中,常用could代替can,以表示礼貌,委婉或不确定的语气,而can则不具备这些语气。这种情况下不能把could看作can的过去式。以上两句中用could是为了表示礼貌的请求。表示请求帮助或请求允许时,除了can, could之外,还可以用may。Could/Can/May I u your car for a day?
如同意可以说Yes或Sure或Certainly美国文化,还可说宝贝英文翻译Yes,(do) plea. 或Of cour. (you may/can). 或Go ahead, plea. 或That’s OK/all right; 如果不同意,可以说I’m sorry you can’t. 或I’m really sorry,but I have to u it today. 要避免说No,you can’t. 这样显得很不礼貌。否定回答通常用委婉语气。
厌倦的英文
无论肯定还是否定应答中,要避免使用could,要用can或may。因为应答须用确定的语气。而could在表请求的问句中是为了表示礼貌或委婉语气,用在应答中则成了不确定语气,与情理不符。所以应答中不说Yes,you could. 或No,汽车更换机油you couldn’t. 而要说Yes,you can. 或Sorry. /No,you can’t.
