ent viral in the western world shows the cute birds followin g their “mother” on a mountain hike and listening to his every command.chinabig
The middle-aged man, who name is not revealed in the video, has been taking care of his 21 ducklings ever since
they were eggs, making sure the incubation( 孵化) period went smoothly, and even helping the tiny birds break through their shell when it came time to hatch. He was the first thing they laid eyes on in this world, and he has remained the most important figure in their lives since.
Ducklings naturally follow their mother around, and since the man was the one who acted as their mother, the birds follow him everywhere, even up a mountain. To them it’s only natural, but the middle-aged man considers it training and conditioning for the time when he finally releas them into the wild. He would love to rai them all as pets, but knows that wouldn’t be ideal for him or the birds, so he’s making sure that they are strong enough to survive in the wild.
The video shows the ducks following the middle-aged man as he hikes up a mountain outside Seoul, stopping whenever he does and refusing to follow anyone el, even if they give the same “let’s go” command their human mother does. Unless they hear his voice and e him moving, they don’t bud
ge. It’s actually quite remarkable. I mean, it’s one thing to e dogs acting like this, but ducklings? That’s something el.
While it’s not clear what the man does for a living, I’m pretty sure he has a lot of experience with ducks, as at one point he reveals a certificate for “father of ducklings” dated 2005.
1、What can we learn from the video?
A.The ducklings just broke through their shells.
B.The man accidentally saved some ducklings.
C.The ducklings just obeyed the man naturally.
D.The man took pride in his ducklings.
2、What’s the man’s purpo of raising the ducklings?
A.To make a living by performing.
B.To film a video to attract attention.
C.To free them into the wild one day.
D.To make a contribution to a bird rerve.
3、Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “budge” in P aragraph 4?
A.Attack. B.Move.
C.End. D.Struggle.
4、What can be the best title for the text?
A.“Father” and “mother” of cute pets
B.Man rais ducklings as his “children”
C.Ducklings also regarded as good pets
D.Amazing bond between man and animals
22.(8分)Experts like to say the best form of exerci is whatever kind you’ll actually do. But that
may not always be the ca; new rearch finds that people who combine exerci with their social lives may be at an advantage over solitary(独自) exercirs. Tennis, badminton and soccer are all better for longevity(长寿) than cycling, swimming, jogging or gym exerci, according to the rearch.
The study was bad on data from about 8,500 adults who were part of the Copenhagen City Heart Study. They completed a health and lifestyle questionnaire, which included questions about type and frequency of physical activity, and were monitored by the rearchers for around 25 years, a period during which about 4,500 of the subjects died.
Tennis came out on top in the rearch. Compared with people sitting all day, tho who reported playing tennis as their main form of exerci could expect to add 9.7 years to their life time, followed by badminton (6.2 years), soccer (4.7 years), cycling (3.7 years), swimming (3.4 years), jogging (3.2 years) and health-club activities (1.5 years).
Tennis likely took the top spot becau “it’s very interactive,” says study co-author Dr. James O’Keefe, a physician at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute. “At every point you’re talking. It’s just a very natural way to emotionally bond with people, besides getting your exerci.” But he adds t
hat the study may not have been able to fully account for the fact that wealthier, better-educated people—who tend to be healthier to begin with—may be more likely to play tennis.
Activities like running and weight lifting still extend your life and offer plenty of other health benefits. But for the best possible benefits, O’Keefe says gym-goers may want to consider combining tho workouts with activities that foster social connection.
O’Keefe, who exerci typically includes running and weight lifting, says he’s even changed his own behavior becau of the study: he and his family have taken up badminton.
“You can’t play badminton without feeling like a kid again,” he says. “It’s just pure fun.”
1、Which of the following is best for living a long life?
A.Cycling. B.Badminton.
C.Swimming. D.Gym exerci.
2、How many people were still living at the end of the rearch?
A.About 8,500. B.About 4,500.
silo
thickC.About 4000. D.About 2500.
3、What matters most to the result of the rearch?
A.Family life. B.Social connections.
C.Frequency of exerci. D.Wealth and education.
4、What does O’Keefe do after the finding?
A.He puts the theory into practice.
B.He plays badminton just for fun.
C.He feels like playing badminton with kids.
D.He takes more exerci than before.
