at a more practical level, i realized knowing what you are going to say and how you are going to say it are equally important. to take the original ideas out of your head and transplant them, so to speak, to that of others, you need to have an organized mind. this ability improves with training.
above all, the single most important thing i learnt was that as a public speaker, you need to pay attention, first and foremost, to the content of your speech. and cond, the structure of your speech: how one idea relates and progress to another. some contestants
failed to address their questions head on. some were able to, but did not knowswheresto stop—the dragging on betrayed their lack of confidence. the root cau was that they did not listen attentively to the questions. or they were thinking of what they had prepared.
and the following is the final version of my speech: globalization:
opportunities and challenges
for chinas younger generation
for china, still more challenges exist. how are we going to ensure a smooth transition from the planned economy to a market-bad one how to construct a legal system that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of a dynamic society how to maintain our cultural identity in an increasingly homogeneous world and how to define greatness in our ri as a peace-loving nation globalization entails questions that concern us all.
and then i went to harvard business school. i graduated from harvard business school, and becau my family was in business. i decided to go into banking,
to get some experience in banking. i didn’t understand so much about what banking was all about, but i learned.
i worked for citi group, and when i was in the middle of working in citi group for 4 years, i had an opportunity to work at the white hou becau citi group had a special program. they lected outstanding performers within the bank and then gave them opportunity to support them for an intern in the government. i was lected as a white hou fellow. i worked at the white hou for one year. it was a difficult time, not easy, but i was so excited. it was so interesting becau there was no chine, no asian at the white hou at that time, so i felt i was blazing a new trail for other asian am
ericans. and i was learning a lot to be a better leader in the future. i worked for the white hou for a year.
and then in 1992, more than 20 years ago, such a long time ago, president bush lost his re-election. when he los re-election, what happened to america is that everybody who was with him goes. so i joined united way of america. united way of america was the charity in america. i was there for 4 years.
i can tell you a lesson that if you face a disappointment, no. 1, you must always think of a long term, so even though it can be a disappointment, don’t be discouraged. if you handle the disappointment well, there will be lots of other opportunities. so indeed, i was originally not offered, but i was indicated that cretary of labor was a position that they wanted for me. i wasn’t very familiar with labor as much as i was familiar with transportation. so i was hoping to be appointed to transportation. when it did not happen, i was very calm and i thanked the president and his team for considering me. i wish them well in their new administration, thinking that i will not be going to be a part of it. 2 weeks afterwith, the president nominate for the cretary of labor position encountered difficulties in confirmation hearing. in united states, the president propos a cretary, and then the congress, the nate approves. so the original choice for the cretary of labor encountered difficulties in her c
onfirmation process, and she had to drop out(退出). so the white hou, the president had to find a new cretary of labor, someone they trusted, someone they know, can clear and gain the approval of the nate, who had no blemish on their records, so they can go through the confirmation process very easily. they approached me again and asked me whether i would be interested in accepting the position of the cretary of labor, so that was how i became the cretary of labor. i wasn’t the first choice becau my world at that time was so small that there were so few asian americans in the government at that time. there was no guide, no one to tell me what to expect, but what i did find helpful was what my parents were talking, you have to have courage, interest and curiosity. i think one thing my parents talked to me a great deal of is curiosity. you have to have interest, you have to have curiosity, and if you are curious, you will go on and ek more doors and more opened and the doors opened for you, if you have persistence, planned ahead, and if you have the will to persist. the world is changing so rapidly,
so you have the same opportunities for you. i can’t tell you what the opportunities are, but if you have interest, and have the will, and you have the confidence, you will have
a lot of opportunities.

in addition, we have3 midfielders, they according to market situation and divided into forward and back, i most like position is defence middle field. the defence middle field is responsible for the protection of the guard in front of the region, while the organization responsible for the avant-garde offen, passing through constantly looking for opportunities, its also called transfixation stream tactics, this soccer watch very strong. barcelona has xavi, iniesta, fabregas three world-level midfielder, in my eyes they can be equal to anything.

The Doors That Are Open to Us 机会之门就在前⽅
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, the title of my speech today is “The Doors That Are Open to Us.”
The other day my aunt paid me a visit. She was overjoyed. “I got the highest mark in the mid-term examination!” she said. Don’t be surprid! My aunt is indeed a student, to be exact, a college student at the age of 45.
Last year, she put aside her private business and signed up for a one-year full-time management cour in a college. “This was the wist decision I have ever made!” she said proudly like a teenage girl. To her, college is always a right place to pick up new ideas, and new ideas always make her feel young.
“Compared with the late ’70s,” she says, “now college students have many doors.” My aunt cannot help but recall her first college experience in 1978 when college doors began to be re-opened after t
She was assigned to study engineering despite her desire to study Chine literature, and a
few years later, the government nt her to work in a TV factory.
I was shocked when she first told me how she had had no choice in her major and job. Look at us today! So many doors are open to us! I believe there have never been such abundant opportunities for lf-development as we have today. And my aunt told me that we should reach our goals by grasping all the opportunities.
The first door I e is the opportunity to study different kinds of subjects that interest us. My aunt said she was happy to study management, but she was also happy that she could attend lectures on ancient Chine poetry and on Shakespearean drama. As for mylf, I am an English major, but I may also go to lectures on history. To me, if college education in the past emphasized specialization, now, it emphasizes free and well-rounded development of each individual. So all the fine achievements of human civilization are open to us.
The cond door is the door to the outside world. Learning goes beyond classrooms and national boundaries. My aunt remembers her previous college days
as monotonous and even calls her generation “frogs in a well.” But today, as the world becomes a global village, it is important that our neighbours and we be open-minded to learn with and from each other. I have many fellow international classmates, and I am applying to an exchange program with a university abroad. As for my aunt, she is planning to get an MBA degree in the where her daughter, my cousin, is now doing her Master’s degree in biochemistry. We are now taking the opportunity to study overas, and when we come back, we’ll put to u what we have learnt abroad.
The third door is the door to life-long learning. As new ideas appear all the time, we always need to acquire new knowledge, regardless of our age. Naturally, my aunt herlf is the best example. Many of my aunt’s contemporaries say that she is amazingly up-to-date for a middle-aged woman. She simply responds, “Age doesn’t matter. What matters is your attitude. You may think it’s strange that I am still going to college, but I don’t think I’m too old to learn.” Yes, she is right. Since the government removed the age limit for college admissions in XX, there are already some
