Abstract
Academic Translation is an important means of our academic and cultural exchanges with other countries as well as learning from foreign advanced ideas. Thus, it is of greatly practical significance and academic value. This paper is a translation report on “chapter one (excerpt)”of Third International Handbook of Mathematics Education. As an academic paper, the source text was the collaboration by five distinguished international scholars in the field of mathematics education, including M.A. (Ken) Clements, Christine Keitel, Alan J. Bishop, Jeremy Kilpatrick and Frederick K.S.
Leung. It identifies a historical progression towards the achievement of mathematics for all: from schooling for all, to arithmetic for all, to basic mathematics for all; to condary mathematics for all; to mathematical modeling for all; and to quantitative literacy for all (, 2013), which is in high academic value. Therefore, the author choos this paper as a meaningful translation practice, at the same time, analys and comments on the translation process and translation results. This pro includes: (1) the application of translation strategies and methods in long ntences and negative ntences, including alienation and domestication, amplification and omission, conversion, and inversion etc. (2) analysis and discussion of some problems in the versions. (3) Reviews of translation.

学术论文的英译汉是我们与世界各国进行学术文化交流、借鉴外国先进理
念的重要手段,因而具备重要的现实意义及学术价值。本文是一篇翻译报告,
所选翻译项目是书名为《国际数学教育手册》(《Third International Handbook of Mathematics Education》)中的第一章节选。作为一篇学术论文,本文由国际数
学教育领域的五位知名学者M. A. (Ken) Clements , Christine Keitel , Alan J. Bishop , Jeremy Kilpatrick以及 Frederick K. S. Leung合作完成,原文以历史的视角介绍了数学教育在社会中的发展与普及,从学校教育的普及,到算数的普
及、基础数学的普及,直至中学数学的普及、数学建模的普及和量化的文化程
度的普及,具有很高的学术价值。所以作者选择这篇学术论文作为一次有益的
翻译实践,并对翻译过程和翻译成果进行了反思、评析。内容包括:(1)翻译
中起指导作用的翻译理论和翻译技巧,包括异化和归化,增译法和省略法等;(2)结合相关翻译策略和技巧,对翻译中遇到的问题进行讨论;(3)关于此次翻译的反思总结。
