I’vetalkedalotaboutyourgovernment’sresponsibility
forttinghighstandards,andsupportingteachersand
principals,andturningaroundschoolsthataren’tworking,
wherestudentsaren’tgettingtheopportunitiesthatthey
derve.
Butattheendoftheday,wecanhavethemostdedicated
teachers,themostsupportiveparents,thebestschoolsinthe
world--andnoneofitwillmakeadifference,noneofitwill
matterunlessallofyoufulfillyourresponsibilities,unlessyou
showuptothoschools,unlessyoupayattentiontotho
teachers,unlessyoulistentoyourparentsandgrandparentsand

foryoureducation.

homeinthetoughestneighborhoodsinthecity,shemanagedto
getajobatalocalhealthcarecenter,startaprogramtokeep

canberichandsuccessfulwithoutanyhardwork--thatyour
tickettosuccessisthroughrappingorbasketballorbeinga
sareyou’renotgoingtobeanyoftho
things.

necessarilysucceedateverythingthefirsttimeyoutry.
