1,000reprentacoreofqualitycollectionscapableofparticipatinginco-ordinated
probablythedocument’sfirstfailing,asIbelieve
that10,000isariousunderestimateofthetotalnumberofplacesmasqueradingas
itisdifficulttogetaccuratedatabut,toputthe
issueintoperspective,Ihavefoundthat,inayearofworkinginEasternEurope,I
discoverfreshzoosonalmostaweeklybasis.

WZCS.

accommodationthatpermitsnormalornaturalbehaviour,andapolicyofco-operating
fullywithoneanotherwhatmightbethepotentialforconrvation?ColinTudge,
authorofLastAnimalsattheZoo(OxfordUniversityPress,1992),arguesthat“ifthe
world”szoosworkedtogetherinco-operativebreedingprogrammes,theneven
withoutfurtherexpansiontheycouldsavearound2,000speciesofendangeredland
